all i was saying is that to come in here and say stuff like NASCAR, it's
just a big roundabout, not much fun at all, really - rather stick a knife up
my arse. that is a bit of a dodgy position to be in inside a newsgroup
dedicated to cars as a recreational subject.

i have no problem with people with those viewpoints (however much i
disagree), but i do believe marching into a gay liberation parade as the
worlds largest homophobe is not the best way of expressing your views.

never mind, eh?

That's funny. We lazy European guys get 5-6 weeks vacation, how much is it now
in the USofA? Still about 2 weeks? 35 hours work/week, too! Lots of free time
and it shows... ;)

Check out some athletics competitions, and think again.

Yes, maybe golf, yachting and motor racing, but lots of other sports just
require talent and lots of work (if doping is out of the question ;).

Call me thick as mud, but I still don't get it. You mean to say your

I used an example of one weekend's viewing as a counter argument against an
"F1 is tedious" post.
I still watch CART and NASCAR when I can, in the hope that either will
appear interesting.

Although Minardi do run in F3000 also.  Maybe they're covering both options.

Standard ITV coverage, the camera work is provided by a TV company local to
the track, so it varies in quality from race to race.

It devalues what I (as a spectator) thought was great racing, when the
drivers say "I'd have prefered it if it didn't happen that way".

I'm just ashamed to be English when he flaps his gums.  Although, Colin,
like Mansell, can send you to sleep with his voice, he's a great driver with
a much better attitude.

F1 is an acquired taste, maybe, it's just my experience seems to differ to
those who find F1 dull.

I was thinking pre war- SoS era (1937) and before- to the punter in the
street, they would be called dinosaurs, regardless of their performance.  I
wouldn't call a GT40 a dinosaur though!
