Wrong premise... raw driving talent is not something measured in numbers or
even indicated by results, yet conversely it's easily spotted on
rainy/windswept tracks.

BMW has a better car if you take both of them equally (not considering the
problems each face with mechanical stuff).

imho.

Because I do.

There's a new official law that states what is normal and what is not in a
discussion?

Spoiler - Hockenheim GP

First I must apologize to all Brits for my words but I must state
facts.
Every F1 driver is a good driver. All of them are F3 or F3000 champions
or something like that. But we are talking here about the best of them -
- World Champions.
Mansell was not good at the begining. For 5 consecutive years he
was behind his teammates, both of them at the end of their career. Never
saw Michael Schumacher in that position.
Then had 4 oportunities to win championship in a superior Williams
machine. Realized only one in a year when Williams was so *** that
he simply cuoldn't fail.
Further, I never heard F1 champion retired from F1 after wining
championship (as much I never heard that Championship contender
was banned for 3 races, and only for slight passing in a pace car
condition-MS). I suspect that his driving abilities has something to do
with that decision- thats all.
I must say that I very much respect his look at life, his heart, and
his driving style.

And anyone who can give Ayrton Senna a good throttling gets a pint off me in
the pub any day.

I do tend to doze off when he speaks, but as a driver, he's been the best
British driver of recent years IMO.

I watched a CART round (Canada- Molson) and saw a bunch of yahoos punting
each other off the road in second rate machinery.
I watched the Daytona 400 NASCAR, and watched 40 or so anonymous 3rd rate
saloon cars trundling round (actual speeds may be high, but relative speeds
are almost identical- snorefest), sure they didn't stay in the same order,
big deal, I can watch cars overtake all day long on the M1 motorway, doesn't
make it exciting.

I watched the F1 Hockenheim race, and saw drama, e***ment, intrigue,
*real* racing, beautiful 1st rate racing machines...

The battle between the the two Bennettons and Alesi was great to watch, but
oh no, nobody succeeded in a pass, so it must have been boring.  When passes
were made, it was done with skill and sheer balls, not just catching a
draft, or barging the other guy out of the way (NASCAR, CART respectively)

I'll take boring over crass any day in that case.

cheers
John

I don't disagree with the premise, but to my knowledge almost all F1 drivers
have come from wealthy (and I mean loaded) families in 1st world countries,
with infrastructure and support from pre-***age.  I know you exagerate to
make a point, but I think it's too much of an exageration.

calling each other ***ing idiots is not normal discussion. Normal is "what
most people do", what you're doing is arguing (badly), not discussing.

Given it's a "legal situation" that's reason enough for "no comment" from
either party.
Don't be sorry for HHF, most people who get sacked from their jobs don't
have a few million quid to wipe up their tears.

I noticed DGF also failed to address the facts that JPM's poor qualifying
form was due to a different tyre compound known to be poorer until worn in
properly.

I failed to address it because I think it's nonsense. Are you saying that
the William's team is the only team that each race purposely put lesser
tires on the same driver's car during qualifying because they didn't care
how high he placed in qualifying? They certainly have a different strategy
than all the other teams in F1.
