Very OT-How Smart Are My Fellow Americans? :-)

You seem to have missed my tongue-in-cheek point.  I am not an US citizen,
but living next door in Canada, we chuckle at the frequent use of the term
communist to describe anything that isn't in-line with the current US
military position.

A majority of Americans don't even know what communism is...rattling on
about communism versus democracy.

CNN is so right wing compared to any intelligent world news source (BBC,
CBC, most anything in Europe), that to call it what you did suggests a
complete myopic misunderstanding of the US vis-a-vis the rest of the world
and a complete misunderstanding of the term communism.

You just said it was self-sufficient in food, which requires oil to
harvest/process...so what don't you get?

Jason, have you tried Eurofighter Typhoon ?  It's got some Saab fighter
jets in it, with Swedish markings.

Ah, right..............if the US had no MidEast oil, it couldn't produce
as much food..............yeah, that's it.  Wrong.  Besides the fact, that
even with markedly less production, it'd still be self-sufficent in food.

Wow, Marc
This thread turned into a big one. Guess it touched a nerve in allot of
people. I didn't miss your tongue in cheek point but was simply being
a reverse smart ass about what appeared to be a strong stereotype
about me.
I consider myself an open minded guy like most I think. I occasionally
watch the BBC America broadcasts because its interesting to see the
different perceptions folks have about America. I think you as a Canadian
have much more in common with us than you think. The USA is not a
Democracy but a representative Republic form of Government, Meaning
that in a pure democracy everyone has an equal vote/voice, But in a Republic
we elect officials to represent the majority on any given matter.
In a Communist state you don't have that voice, and you have no recourse
against injustice done by the state against you.
My only gripe against CNN is that they frequently IMO present news
stories based on opinion 'that is biased by politics' as factual, and don't
always seem to present both sides of an issue.  Just my opinion of course.

Best to you.
Dave B

See, it still works out: GPLrank was a European/Canadian creation,
and now it's hosted in the US. Peace, everybody. ;-)

Actually, my feline friend, I gather it was not so much the voters but
the counters who erred last time, since the guy who seems to have had
the most votes overall mysteriously didn't win. At least that's the
impression most of us got in Europe...

Erm... So Bush's boyfriends, emptying the US oil reserves by millions of
barrels every day, are actually getting the US in trouble right now?
Nice going   ;)
