>>I plug in the joystick for a few rounds of DOA3.  It just does it.

Try printing out your resume on an X-box.  Try faxing from your X-box.  Try
cropping digital photos on your X-box.  Try any one of a billion things that
computers do, besides games.  Due to the complexity, the computer will never
be a perfect solution for ***.  But along with some disadvantages for
*** (lack of consistent hardware) all the incredible flexibility that a
computer has also gives it several advantages over a console, yes even for
***.  I'm into flight sims, and I use a Thrustmaster Cougar and CH
Pro rudder pedals.  Try plugging those items into your X-box and custom
programming your preferred buttons.

I've got a CH Products flightstick working on the Xbox, and it's custom
programmable to boot.  I use the Innovation X-connection and the CH Products
Gamestick for the PSX, which works just fine.  I can run that stick on the
PSX, DC, PS2, Saturn and Xbox.  It's possible to get flexibility in console
controllers if you're savvy.

The PC is a general purpose machine.  That's what it's for, and that's what
it does.  Games are special purpose apps which do benefit from special
equipment.  A keyboard and mouse were never meant to take the punishment of
a *** session, and they often don't fare well as a result.  PC's weren't
ever designed for games, and they've never done exceptionally well at them
unless there is a bunch of special-purpose widgets thrown into it which cost
as much (or more) than a console would in the first place.

I think that was the "more depth" that he was talking about.

PC gamers are simpletons.  Go into a video game store, and
look at who's still being sold games with the biggest, silliest,
most outlandish boxes.  The box for "Return to Wolfenstein"
could have housed a family of four.  Homeless people dig them
out of dumpsters to make ***iniums out of.  The Air Force
wants them to dump on Iraq to scare the heck out of Saddam
Hussein with.  NASA is looking at them as cheap disposable
launch pads for the Space Shuttle missions.  They're HUGE!
The only other form of entertaiment left coming in boxes
anywhere near that size are *** videotapes, so there you go.
That's the mentality of people who think that bigger=better.

Charles, please stop for your own good.  You are not funny.  Perhaps someone
was being kind that *one time* when a chuckle was heard contemporaneous to
one of your alleged quips.  Perhaps it was only a coincidence rather than
kindness/pity.  Either way, a misleading signal was sent which now causes
you to behave under the mistaken presumption that you are humorous.  You
deserve better, you deserve the truth.

The person from your past who chuckled doesn't know the far reaching
implications of that one fateful lapse in judgment and/or concentration.  It
has caused this ng to be the latest victim of what I'm certain is a
***ic habit of attempted humor.  Who thought one innocent chuckle
could have caused an avalanche of horror and distress.  I feel it is my duty
to end the delusion and stop the madness.

Hear this loud and clear: YOU ARE NOT FUNNY . . . AT ALL.  NO,  NOT EVEN A
LITTLE BIT.

Don't thank me.  You'd do the same if roles were reversed.

Wow, so you got a joystick to work.  Yippie!

Yes, so what?  I agree, that the computer can do a billion things as a
"general purpose machine".  You're point is that it's weak for games because
it's a general purpose machine.  My point is that it's good for games PLUS
everything else, BECAUSE it's a general purpose machine.

.  Games are special purpose apps which do benefit from special

YES, games do benefit from special purpose equipment.  Again I agree.
However, there are some types of games that you will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER
see on X-box.  For example . . . Falcon 4!  I love flight sims.  You won't
ever see any *** flight sims on console systems.  At most, you will see
watered down, extremely simplified flight sims that appeal to ages 12 and up.

Cosole games are designed for people who don't have the attention span or
ability to learn the extremely complex flight sims with 50 million commands
that have to be used and often memorized.

Cosole game systems are great for people who want FAST, SIMPLE games.  But
they suck for people who want real, *** flight sims.  Also, there is a
much greater diversity of games and types of games available for the PC,
becuase the PC can be used as a general purpose tool to CREATE new games, by
ANYONE who learns programming all over the world.

Consoles on the other hand, are mostly limited to special programmers who are
hired by those big companies to create games on their system.  So you have
less creativity with console games than with PC games.
