Everybody I know is running XP. And I have never had problems with
resource management since 98.

Tell me about it.

So your system was fine until you fiddled (figuratively speaking),
then it broke, so all copies of Windows has IE crashing all the time?

That's your problem, you are running the worst MS OS ever. 98 was an
attempt to extend 95 before they fixed all the bugs inherent with such
a massive change in the software (3.1 to 95). Then with ME they had to
go through two versions (98 and 95 code), fixing bugs to make it
stable. Then they gave up and built everything on NT, and everybody
was happy. Nobody in the world used Linux any more, because they
didn't like Netscape crashing all the time, and IE was now robust. Of
course, some people needed an excuse to keep using Linux, so they kept
comparing it to 5 year old copies of Windows. Then the world exploded.
Gentlemen spewed forth onto their Sunday trousers. The Moon fell to
Earth, and was consequently discovered to be only 7 inches in
diameter. Bill Radshaw, a landscape designer from Stoke, looked up in
puzzlement as the Moon landed on him, and crumbled into a fine powdery
dust, which stuck in his hair. Blahblahblah... anyway:

Typical Linux syndrome I'm afraid. Did you know that there are aliens
at Area 51? Or that Dr. Dre isn't actually a real doctor?

Why? I don't believe MS would do this, but I don't agree with their
business practices either. People who like MS can see faults in its
products, unlike Linux users, who fail to see any problems with their
OS. A community which sees no fault in its core beliefs will tend to
become fascistic.

But Unix is better than DOS...

I prefer OpenGL to DirectX too, because DirectX suffers from some odd
display glitches on my system, which seem to be associated with
sorting and the Z-Buffer. Sometimes, textures with alpha channels seem
to slow down the rendering process, too. I haven't done any tests or
anything, so I don't know if this is just my machine/gfx card combo,
or if it is a DX fault. OpenGL just looks nicer to me, anyway. Plus, I
learnt OpenGL first (right after Glide, in fact).

By the way, all my comments are tongue in cheek. They are not intended
to insult any person or group of people, just to provoke interesting
conversation. The best way to make an opinion on something is to
listen to both sides of the argument.

Ok.....now you've gone and made me want a progressive scan DVD player
too

Cool since this is the console I'll most likely get

I have and use the component out rather than the S Video, but see no info as
to progressive scan.
Oh well, it won't play burned vcd's either, so maybe I need to upgrade
pretty soon :).
