Well you have tires that are very very hard and last 2-4 races. And takes a
long time to get them heated up, as soon as there heated up, You can have some
fun racing. a lil more grip.

Remember the adage, young David: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I find the Papyrus graphics to be most pleasing to my eye......I prefer
their style to a lot of others.
But, as per the adage, what appeals to me should not be expected to
automatically appeal to another.  If that were so then the world's art
galleries would be filled with nothing but Renoirs! :-)

No sooner had I posted my original reply when Remco's message (i.e.
ridicule) appeared on my server, so I thought the logic was obvious (unless
you don't view the newsgroup by date-time stamp, of course).

Sure, but I try not to and I do not judge a game by what flies off when I do
(with the possible exception of RC2000).

Whatever gave you that idea? -I'm just mildly interested by twisted psyche.

How I spend my time is not for you to decide nor judge.

AHA! I think we're on to something here.

The same premise which attracted me to the game repels you.

GPL is indeed about an era where F1 cars were ridiculously powerful for the
amount of grip they generated. With no aerodynamic downforce to speak of and
tyres with a wide slip angle curve the way to take a corner faster than the
next guy was to drive the car through it in a controlled drift (like they do
on dirt or ice nowadays, although nowhere near as pronounced as on those
surfaces and, indeed, in the game). An age where just driving the cars took
courage and where virtuosity in the car was visible to the *** eye and not
just on the clock (slight exaggeration ;-)).

If this doesn't speak to you then, fair enough, you're best to leave it
alone. There's no way you're going to be able to bring yourself to invest
the time it takes to ascend GPL's ridiculously steep learning curve.

Still, had you mentioned this up front some unpleasantness could have been
avoided.

Nope, it can't.  You need an SLI setup for Vs. to do 1024.

AFAIK you can't get more than 800 x 600 with a single Voodoo 2 card,
and you need 2 voodoo 2 cards (SLI) to get a 1024 resolution...
99% sure about this...

It's not an opinion.  Mathematical calculations and race car physics are not
an opinion but a fact.

So you don't like the type of handling those cars have.  Ok with that :)

Exactly.  Even if I dissaprove his opinion, the guy doesn't like them
no-downforce bullets.  Fine for him, at the moment he himself doesn't troll.
Still, there is a difference by saying "I don't like those type of cars"
than "It's a piece of junk".

No, GPL was marketed for *** racing simulation fans and only them.  It
was successfull for those type of people, and that's all.

Why?  I consider Monza as a pretty simple track.  Turn right, turn right,
turn right, turn left, turn right.  Floor it in between.  If we go with your
opinion, F1 2000 or GP3 should have oval tracks.  ????

The mass market wasn't the market for GPL.  There was no need for those
arcade-type adjustments.  Only with N4 will we see customisations like that
by Papyrus in the new game engine.  Heck the "Billy bubba" gamer who buys
stockcar racing games isn't even the market for GPL!
