Where's that then? No announcement on the news page at www.papy.com and the
gpl_d3d.exe download is the old one.

I am not sure about the executable patch file itself (I will try it after
work, we are in the morning on this side of the pond - so we just get to
download first for a change, he he), but indeed the readme at papy's site
says:

Updated for this version
------------------------

Fixed the incorrect flagger color bug, and improved visual image quality:
anisotropic filtering can be enabled if your graphics card and drivers
support it for a very nice improvement at no framerate hit, and the
rendering of transparent images is improved at a small framerate cost, if
you choose to use this, no more moth eaten trees or fences.

It also mentions the Geforce3 as supported card.

Have fun,
Xavier.

Here's the url: www.papy.com/downloads/gpl_d3d.exe
Read the readme carefully, you have to adjust your core.ini, some new
options  must be added. Everything works perfect, even the anstropic
filtering (or whatever it's called :) works great!
But unfortunately the menu-flickering problem remains.

More info about the patch can be found here:

A well-deserved THANK YOU to Grant Reeve again :)

In particular it adds Anisotropic filtering support which fixes the burry
textures, so you can now get anisotropic filtering without needing 12.xx
drivers and a registry hack (I now have anisotropic filtering working with
6.50), and it fixes the ugly trees / vanishing fences problem.

GPL is now back looking how it used to with Glide on a 3dfx card :)

Many thanks to Papy and Grant Reeve (I presume) for another excellent
update.

p.s. After download check the file is 287 K (and not 251 K) since if your
ISP has a webcache you may get the old file.

Downloading and comparing I see this one is 1.0.0.1 and the previous one was
1.0.0.0

Same filename though but also slightly different file sizes.

How do you assign options to your wheel and change the linear settings and
etc when they don't show up in the menus????

Sometime they do if you move the mouse over them but some of them never show
up.

everyone that noticed an image degradation going from a V3 to a
geforce series card needs this new patch - on default core.ini
settings it is so much better

Also works very well with the radeon vivo. I am now running at 1600 x 1200
and everything is gorgeous, also no slowdown with 5 cars at beginning of
race. Cars in Mirrors are incredible. It just keeps getting better. Thanks
Papy!!!!

Did I? You mean I responded to someone like <insert Papy cheerleader from
r.a.s.> who has to talk about GPL in forums that are for other sims? Why
don't you post the "blast"?

BTW, this whole "GPL is my girlfriend" thing that a handful of people here
at r.a.s. continue to live after three years is absolutely, positively one
of the "oddest hobbies" I've ever seen. Tongue is definitely NOT firmly
planted in-cheek this time.
