Um, Jobs never fired Wozniak. In fact it was Steve J. who got fired
(back in 1985, founded NeXT, which begat the WWW, became OS X, the rest
is history)

The only real difference I can see is that Microsoft

True, to some extent. However, it's more than just style, it's finesse
and quality care as well.

Same shit, different packaging, smells and handles better though  ;)

Yeah, and "We crash faster" of course. Not to mention "catches viruses
faster" - a lot faster, I'd say. The last live Mac virus was spotted
several years ago. Faster. Yeah. Wooo.

Well, same here, mate.

I would imagine a 1gHz RISC chip blows away a 3gHz P4, but I haven't
seen much in the way of benchmarks.

OK, enough Mac bashing.  Macs can be a very useful tool for kindergarten
children.

Actually, people who use common sense *rarely* get hit with viruses, even
running Windows.  The only thing about viruses you can blame on MS is their
STUPID default config for MS Outlook.  That lets everything under the sun
attack your system... :-(

And as for Mac viruses, the standard joke is that virus creators don't want to
waste their time trying to affect a market that's only about 10% of the
total... :-)

Yep, same goes for Virus that attacks Netscape and all these other
lesser used e-mail programs that have a low market share, if you're
going to make a virus it's natural to make it so it has the most chance
of spreading

Actually, Netscape still has quite a presence in the Corporate world.
Netscape has a TON of email servers being used at the corporate level.

Not everyone buys into the cost of Exchange Servers.

Fair enough, but the total ratio is still overwhelmingly in fav of of a
MS product....:-)

And thank god for that or it would be a *total* monopoly out there

Weird, last time I saw stats MS was getting its ass kicked as far as
serving data went.  I can't imagine anyone running Exchange outside of
a small office environment and then only for internal email.  Even if
Exchange is handling the POP/IMAP stuff (to keep the shirts happy) I'd
imagine any semi-large company is using qmail or sendmail for SMTP.
As far as other services go, the world is still running on Apache and
Netscape Commerce Server.

Did MS ever fix the bug in Exchange that prevented it from sending
mail to hosts without mx records?  I dunno how it survived through
version 5, altho I guess MS has a history of blatantly ignoring RFCs.

Okay...:-), never claimed to know much about servers anyways, I'll just
sit quietly over here in the corner from now on

*sends you an e450 and a copy of NCS*

Have fun!

Jason

(NCS actually stands for "piece of shit" and not "netscape commerce
srver")

And every other email would be a Virus.  Right now it's only every 4th one
:)

I'm not so sure about that.

Toss in the Lotus servers, Linux servers and Netscape servers (plus whatever
I missed), and i'm not convinced Exchange is even close to monopoly levels.

Strange thing that these kajagoogoo thingies keep on runnin' though when
pc's are failing left, right 'n center whenever there is another virus
around huh?

(Besides, Macs aren't Macs anymore, Apple makes Unix machines now, we're
talking a whole new ballgame there... or rather 'venerable', Unix being
around since 1969)

10 %? Huh, we'd wish. 4% is more likely. Still, about 20+ million people
though...
