This is part of the message from SimRacer about his league's problem with the
default fast setup:
"Since we went to 2002 and started our
season within a few weeks of its release, we decided to just run the stock
<fast> setups. This has presented little problem EXCEPT for Coca Cola. The
stock <fast> there will blow up in the draft, even at 70o and clear...We
found this out the very night of the race, in practice, and all 17 of us
agreed I could back out, change the <fast> to have 5% less tape and restart.
No more blowups were experienced and everyone had an input on how to fix the
problem."

So, I've changed the setup from 45% to 40% tape.  Hopefully, that should
prevent any problems tomorrow...

That was our experience Eldred, I would still turn a few laps either as a
test or offline to verify our findings. We ran 70o and Clear and with the
stock <fast> everyone that turned more than say 5 or 6 laps behind someone
(drafting), blew up. The only caveat to this is that I can't remember if
that was before or after the 2nd patch came out...

That's what happens on a make-believe SS <G>  All the track types that
could have been added, and another SS was the choice...........ugh.

Well since there were only 2 actual ones and most NASCAR fans don't like
road courses I think it was a good addition.
If you want to run road courses don't expect a lot in a NASCAR sim :)

I was thinking more along the lines of a short track...........don't
remember saying anything about a road course :)

I just assumed based on the normal ranting about it ;)
I personally like the SS tracks.  All tracks are good actually, they all
take different skills/strategy.

FYI - We ran a 100% no yellow Coca Cola race a few weeks ago with fast setup
using 40% tape with no engine issues.

Smart move Eldred.  I am a bit concerned that it may increase the push
problem, though.

It's going to be interesting :)
