Setups for malaysia in F1C?

I seem to be stuck with the same problems right now in Malaysia with my car
(Jaguar R3) mainly massive understeer in the exits of a few of the turns. I
know that some of it is dealing with my driving, but its hurting my times a
ton, like on the exit of turn 6 I have to go down to 3rd gear where I know I
should be able to go almost flat out. I know some of you guys have to be
going faster then that, any help would be great.

Also try increaing the outside front rebound damper and decreasing the
inside rear bump damper.

Increased the diff lock and it seems to help the car through the
corners...I'm still forcing myself off track pretty often though.

Flat out?  You're kidding, right?  You mean the righthander?  I can't see
anyone going flat there.  I looked at the track map last night - according to
it, there aren't any 1st gear corners.  So, I'm in serious trouble.  Out of the
6 2nd gear corners they show, I have to drop to 1st in 6 of them...  I also
kept spinning every 2 or 3 corners.  Every time I lift in a turn, the car
spins.  But, I can't tell that I'm going to fast for the turn until I'm *in*
it.  I also tried turning up the graphics options so I could get *some* kind of
brakemarkers.  Still don't have them on all the turns, and lost about 5 fps in
the process.  Couldn't get ONE clean lap in the 10 or so I tried...finally quit
in frustration.  I'm not looking forward to this race... :-(

When I said flat out I meant from the apex to the exit of the turn...no, I
can't take the entire thing flat out! Try to not lift off the throttle when
you're in the turn. I found my car was a lot more stable when I would keep
the throttle in just a bit...maybe 5 or 10% max, nothing to really
accelerate, just enough to keep the nose tucked in. Have you tried using the
basic setups? I've always found the grip setup to be pretty good for
consistent laps. Also try not to drop to 1st, stay in second in most of them
and you won't spin out. Something else I found was that if I kept the car in
2nd for the first part of turn 1, I was a lot better. I keep the car in 2nd
through the last turn as well, also the turn before that. I've never found
the maps to be very helpful, it says you should be at a certain speed, but
it never seems to be right for me at all.

so what times is everyone getting at Malaysia? I have yet to go under
1m40 in the McLaren (I hope the RH 2003 car did not by some secret
command of Bernie's take on this year's performance values ;-)

I really am at a loss at this track, esp. the twisty section before
the back straight. I find it very hard to identify brake markers that
I can get back, and the plastic cones that mark the more difficult
apexes are usually gone by lap five or so 8-P

Cheers,

Uwe

I'm stuck at 1:43's right now, I know where I should be able to go
faster...but I just got understeer or oversteer, right now I'm thinking of
switching to the williams or ferrari to see if the car is really losing me
that much time.

I just ran a few laps, best so far 1:35.922 in Ferrari 2003 (Low TC no other
aids)
When I tried it last week I was stuck in the mid 1:37's.
I just can't get any consistency at this track, I just seem to throw it at
the scenery way too often.

Can you e-mail me your setup (change spam.com to rochester.rr.com)? I tried
the 2002 Ferrari and was able to get down to a 1:41.5...but yea, that's a
lot slower then you. It seemed a lot faster then the williams I tested, but
I didn't have much stability under braking.

Is there any difference between the 2002 and 2003 ferrari either btw?

You have mail.

I think the 02 and 03 cars are the same.

My best is a 1:36 in the McLaren.  Best thing is to get a telemetry file
from somebody who is faster and compare your laps to that.  Also I have
found it very helpful to watch the AI in this game.  Their speeds will be a
tad different from yours but you can get some good ideas about line, brake
point, etc. from watching them.

So I'm going to ask the stupid question now...could you send me your replay
file? replace spam.com with rochester.rr.com

I was able to get my times down to a 1:40 flat...but I still haven't gotten
a lap down that I feel good about.
