F1 2001 Malaysia/Sepang setup?

by tee-hol » Thu, 06 Dec 2001 14:52:11

Hello,

Anyone know of a nice Malaysia car setup for F1-2001?

Fastest A/I car is running 1m37:228s in qualify (which is better than
the real-world record of 1m38:451s). Lotta 1m37's, 38's too), I can't
get under 1m42s+.

For qualify I use soft tires, low fuel, and close-to-stock setup. The
2 aids I use are "Low Throttle" and "Low Anti-lock" assistance.

Seems like lots of under steer in corners, or maybe I'm entering too
fast.

Running the A/I cars at 100% performance, I can at least come "close"
to most qualify times at a few other circuits, but this one has me
baffled.

Anyone know of a URL to find a fast setup for this circuit?

 Thanks, Matt

I've been to SimBin, but can't find a Malaysian car setup. Already
have your 2 setup packs (zips), is there a setup in one of the packs?

I found it (Ian Sep Will TCL.svm).

After adding 1-point each to front/back wing, and lowering front-left
fast-bump/rebound a bit (didn't touch anything else, that tire is
still not hot enough yet, getting closer though), it took only 7
test-laps to drop from 1m42.444s to 1m39.623s.

I have a few weak spots on this course.  I'm still "wimping-out" on
the last two (almost blind) chicanes;  not enough practice to know the
circuit completely.

Not blazing-fast yet, but a nice 2.8 second drop in lap time.

Thanks!

 Matt

p.s. Guess it's time to take the Sepang "driving-school", I hate that
thing :)  But it really does show the driving lines.

p.s.2   F1-2001 is such a "pain" to work with car settings. Just
"saving" a setup is crazy, and half the time I hit the "exit" arrow,
right back to the main menu. I hope they fix this stuff in the next
patch.

Dang "cheesy" thing, there's only 7 circuits for driving school
(Malaysia not included of course).

 Pay $29.95 U.S., receive $29.95 worth of program :)
