"Whine, Whine... ***, Moan..."...

I'm not going to even buy the PC version.  Waste of money.  I'd have to
shell out for an overpriced PC game controller, when the Playstation's
already works good enough.

powerups, flashing damage indicators (in GTA3 it's only on the health at
least, but in most, if not all, console games the character flashes)--it's
just all so damn kiddieish, just like console games are mostly developed
for: kids and immature ***s.
console elements. One reason I like PC games: they tend to be directed
towards (and developed by) mature kids and ***s for the most part. :)
hacked to allow in-mission saving...

Yeah, but driving a car with a mouse? I can't imagine that.

The problem is that it's not about liking or disliking a game, but ENJOYING playing it. At the very least these console "gimmicks" should be OPTIONAL in PC ports.

So use a wheel joystick--der. Granted, Rockstar didn't include joystick tweaking options (sensitivity, dead zone, etc)--more console portilitis!

Case and point, there is a race mission that took me 5 times to finally
beat cause I can't steer the freaking car properly with a wheel
or joystick!!

powerups, flashing damage indicators (in GTA3 it's only on the health at
least, but in most, if not all, console games the character flashes)--it's
just all so damn kiddieish, just like console games are mostly developed
for: kids and immature ***s.

Quake, Serious Sam, and Unreal Tournament have floating powerups.

Consoles are not just for kids?  That's just a stereotype.

I used to think that way, Eep; consoles are for kids or the braindead.
Mostly because I hadn't owned one ever, and I didn't think much of when all
my friends were playing Mario or sports games, and I was playing Pirates.

Well, a few weeks ago I took the plunge and bought a Playstation 2 and it
has really opened my eyes.  I haven't seen a *** system this good since
the Commodore Amiga in the variety of games.  PC's, on the other hand, seem
to have stagnated with first-person shooters qualifying as "action games",
mostly they seem to have become tech demos for folks who want to show off
their hardware.  PS2 has a larger selection of games than what you will find
on the PC, with the possible exception of strategy games and flight sims
(but I have seen Civ II and Red Alert for Playstation, and there are fantasy
flying games), and it is backwards compatible with Playstation games.  I
picked up a small library of Playstation 1 games like Bushido Blade,, Metal
Gear Solid, Tenchu, Tekken 3, Soul Blade, Silent Hill, Resident Evil... they
are all good, and there's not much like them on the PC.  I bought Final
Fantasy X for 20 dollars at a video store and I'm enjoying it alot.

You can use the wheel for driving and keys/mouse to walk/look.
Long live the PC :)

I got into the truck a coupe of times, 2-3 times, but every time when
I was in the truck the game crashed. It crashes a lot, about every 30
minutes, quite anoying :-/

Yes, and I don't play any of them (but not JUST because of these).

A stereotype continually reinforced by the majority of console games.

I stopped dorking with consoles since the 8-bit Nintendo back in the late 1980s and only after a VERY brief stint of Tomb Raider on a friend's Playstation (but soon after the PC version came out which easily blew away the Playstation one) I have NEVER looked back.

All of this is irrelevant for the simple fact that PC games are modifiable/hackable/extractable, have more variety in game genres: strategy, action, adventure, RPG, simulation, etc, and are MUCH more cost effective (PC vs console). Consoles are for kids and immature ***s who can't handle REAL *** machines: PCs--PERIOD.

Do you have all of the latest XP patches?  I haven't had any crashes at all
on mine...
