Good tip - I'm at the 'van heist' mission where you have to ram and
steal a money transport truck. Tried it about 20 times now and the
police keeps ramming me off the road :-/

Open the rear door so to release some money to bribe the police off.
:)

Ah, I still even am stuck in Liberty City itself; no bridges or
anything yet. :(

Yes, it happens on the PC version too, and I hate it.

All this console ***is stupid: limited saves, bouncing/floating powerups, flashing damage indicators (in GTA3 it's only on the health at least, but in most, if not all, console games the character flashes)--it's just all so damn kiddieish, just like console games are mostly developed for: kids and immature ***s.

Granted, GTA3 is fairly non-kiddie, but it still has the above kiddie console elements. One reason I like PC games: they tend to be directed towards (and developed by) mature kids and ***s for the most part. :)

At least with the PC version there's a glimmer of hope that it can be hacked to allow in-mission saving...

Okay, now, usually I understand in-mission save gripes. In GTA3, the
missions are short and decisive: you either complete them or you don't. In
most of them there's no logical place to save. There's also no penalty for
messing up a mission, even if you die; just jack another car, return to
the person you got the mission from, and try it again. The only time you
should be saving in GTA3 is when you want to stop playing it and do
something else.

Only the left stick ..

I, personally, wouldn't want to play GTA3 with a wheel.
It might make walking, jumping and aiming a little difficult .. :)

Lol, I'll show them basketball! :)

I've noticed the basketball field; too bad they seemed scared off by
the first deaths or so. :) Needed another 6 victims.

I'll try again. :)

Regardless, this type of saving is still console-ish and more an annoyance than anything. Hitman was criticized because of it. Tomb Raider 3 was going to have "save game gems" but instead they turned into "full health powerups" which still looked silly and unrealistic.

When are console porters going to get it through their thick skulls that PC games don't need to have this shit in them? Geez...

No, I'd be happier if PC ports didn't include these things. :)

That's a hard little mission...the basketball is really the best way to
go...

It also helps to just move damn fast, i.e. have a Banshee with you if you
can and at least use it to bust through the fence on the court...only
problem is you have to toast them, run-overs don't count.

Ram harder then. ;)

Are you just using any car or what?  Mafia Sentinels work well for this if
you want more speed, or just steal a big truck and get it done in a few
hits.  Once you get in the truck, you're basically home free.

Oh, and if you get a chance...try pronouncing the name on the back - "Gruppe
Sechs" sometime. Hehehe.

I don't get what the problem is, if you like a game buy it, if not don't. It
really is that simple.

Yes, but if they didn't have in them things you didn't like you could enjoy
more games.
