N4 In-car view

Is it just me, or is the in-car view have a smaller & smaller window with
each version of Papy's Nascar series?  I don't see why I need to see under
the dashboard!  I'd prefer an in-car view where the window takes up more
than a measley 1/4 of the screen.   To me it looks like I'm seated in the
back-seat with a 6 foot steering column.  I've only seen the demo so far...
are there any other in-car views that I'm missing? or an option to move fwd
& backward in the***pit (like in SODA)?  I'm wanting to like N4, but the
view and the "turn-right-to-go-straight-realism" are turning me off.

You are correct, the view does seem to be getting smaller. I don't know if
it's a trying to be more realistic approach or for the sake of fps, or a
combination of both.

There is a LOVELY patch for all you types who don't want a realistic sim.
It's called Nascar Racing 3.  Go get it..Straighten your wheel to your
hearts content.

Ever sit in a cup car?

the veiw is pretty damn close to real.

the pull is realistic, you dont want realistic, dont buy a simulation.

I thought the hood in Nascar Heat was a different approach. Any ideas for
this in N4.

Or you can drive in Arcade mode which I hear is just a N3 physics port.  Or
you can use a symmetrical setup so the car doesn't pull left (won't turn
left very well either though)

Is it just me or has this situation been hammered into submission numerous
times.  Solve the problem the way I did.  Buy a 21" monitor.

Sound not to your liking?  Solve it the way I did.  Buy an SB Live Platinum
with a Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 speaker system.

Thank you for the helpful words.   Is it so much to ask for a different
in-car view?  For Pete's sake there 3 or 4 arcade out-of-body-experience
views included in N4!

c'mon, lighten up.  Prop flying sims often have options to turn off the
engine torque effect.  That's all I want, an option to turn it on/off.
Otherwise I prefer the physics of N4 to other Nascar sims I've tried.
Besides I do not recall any broadcast of real Nascar drivers where the
in-car view showed them with the wheel turned to the right when going
straight.

There should be an option to put the wheel on a bit to the right so
that holding the wheel straight would bring the car stragiht, however,
then you would have to steer a bit sideways when going down a flat
pitlane.

This is a feature so incorporated into the simulation that you can't
just turn it off.

It's just an old topic Gary,   Dale Earnhardt jr has stated online and
elsewhere that the 'pull' is realistic.  That is what WC drivers deal with
everyday.  From what I understand, although I don't have any direct info,
the WC drivers often place their wheels on the spindle so that the
dead-ahead straight up tape marker would be off to the leftt,   They still
have the pull, but this gives them the illusion of driving straight.
Somebody was going to work on a graphic patch that canted the incar wheel
like that but I never heard if he got that done.
Larry used to swear up and down around here about this, saying the
non-force feedback users were getting a raw deal.  I've been using both a FF
and Non FF wheel and while each takes some time to become acclimated, after
a time you almost don't notice the wheel posisiton.
Laps and more laps is the quickest way to get adjusted.
good luck

Gary,

This is what I use for modified in-car view and may be what you're looking
for.   http://www.racesimcentral.net/

As for the steering wheel pull, you can adjust a lot of it out by modifying
your setup, however after you run a few laps I think you'll find yourself
pushing badly through the turns.  Try turning off the in-car steering wheel,
and you'll probably get used to the pull after mucho laps.

What kind of wheel are you using? With a non-FF wheel the left pull is
annoying, but on a FF wheel you don't notice it much at all for some
reason. It's still there, but feels much more subtle.

From all reviews and user comments I have read the Turtle Beach Santa
Cruz has better sound quality, and no issues with VIA chipsets. I have
a SB Live!, but thinking of moving over to the Santa Cruz because of
the great reviews it gets.
