N4 in-car view = more speed?

I do not like the N4 in-car view.  It reminds me of Nicholas Cage in
Firebirds driving with a periscope and panties over his head.  Or a
recurring nightmare where I'm trying to drive my car from the back seat.

Instead, I've been using a roof-cam view I downloaded which was modified for
an in-car perspective.  But just for kicks I tried the standard in-car view

best lap time (which admittedly isn't that great) by a couple tenths of a
second, and finally broke the 30 second barrier.

Am I missing something?   What would make one view faster than another?

in the car you may be picking up on more subtle cues that are not apparent
when you float over the hood. There is a-lot more to Nascar than just
turning, and getting even the smallest extra feedback may have given you the
extra tenths.

I used to get that dream alot, driving from the back when the driver was
shot dead.  Though I always wonder how was I able to press the gas.  Funny
dream, I've never been inside of those cars.  They're mostly like 70's brown
fake leather interiors.

Sorry for being off topic"ed".

I reckon in some subtle way ,because you've driven for a while with the
roof-cam 're-aligned ' view, going back to the standard in-car one ,has
given you a more accurate idea of the body shape  of the car , and so your
turn-in would have been more accurate .. I bet you know more about where
your right rear wheel is too!   jv

I think it's because you get way more frames/sec with the incar view than
the hood view.  Try turning down the graphics options for the hood view.
FWIW I drive in hood view too.

The opposite should be true re: frame rates.

Most of us humans drive cars from a***pit or driver's seat, not floating
over the hood or roof or flying behind in a helicopter.  Unless your view is
blocked to the point of serious obstruction or unless the frame rates are
too low, it is only common sense that you would do better when placed where
you belong in the car.
