We can't buy anything until the GPL fast processor bug is addressed....

Yea, me too. P4's are for suckers. A cpu that throttles back the
cycles when it get's hot?***that shit.

I dont know what the hell that guy is talking about as far as tempearture. I
love my P4 1.4 which when I want it to it runs at 1.6 w/ hardly any
temperature difference and runs way cooler all accross the board than the

Me too!  A friend just told me he picked up the latest PC Mag issue.
He said our chip basically kicks the P$ 1.7's butt!

I read the same article...the TBird wins some of the benchmarks, the P4
others.  It depends on what you are running and what your subsystems are.
As more programs come out that take advantage of the P4 feature set, you can
expect more of the benchmarks to swing back to Intel.  But of course..by the
end of Summer we should also be seeing a 1.5 gig AMD chip.

It's the 1.5's and 1.7's and beyond people are worried about.  The 1.4 is
almost obsolete now :)

Intel's castration of the chip as to pump out Ghz speeds and make the
average dumb idiot think that their CPU's are faster.  This is the price and
with the Athlon 4 coming out with SSE, well just think about it.  Intels
only hope is to move to .13 micron before AMD does but even that might not
hold AMD off their turf.

Please, we've heard this before.  It's more Intel bashing.  Some like AMDs,
others, like myself, wouldn't touch one, sticking rather with the P4.  It's
funny how T-Bird owners are always trying to justify how good their
processors are in comparrison to Intel's.  If you believe this to be true,
why must you go to such lengths (ad nauseam) in order to proove it.  Maybe
it's someone else who needs to be convinced.

I'll take my P4 while you take your T-Bird, and let us all live happily ever
after.  :)

That doesn't change the fact that the P4 throttles back when it gets
hot. Also AMD is working on a better SSE instruction set so the P4
should have no advantage in any benchmarks.

This was the first time I ever selected a non-Intel CPU. I was very
hesitant at first. I did a lot of research and concluded that the T-bird
had the most bang per $$$. The P4 was just not as cost efficient. True,
eventually software may be written to take full advantage of the P4 but
that is still in the future. I wanted a fast system *now* and by all
indications the T-bird comes out on top of the P4 at this time. By the
time instruction sets to take advantage of the P4 are common place, AMD
will have faster CPU's and I can just upgrade at a reasonable price. I
just think Intel has stumbled slightly and AMD has closed the gap(if not
surpassed) considerably, at least among gamers.
