Heh, seems like everyone is trying to make that track. "My banked
Monza is better than yours!" :)

btw, did you notice that laptime: 1:36, so I guess it is far from
finished :)

Anyway, can't wait for this track to be finished, no matter who makes it.

I'll bet you 2 cold beers that the picture on the page is a fake!

Look closely and you'll notice that it's nothing more than Papy's version of
Monza, with either the Firestone Billboard removed, replaced with a
transparent image or the screenshot has been tampered with in a Graphics
program.

Having said that... I for one cannot understand what all this
Banked-Monza-fuzz is all about ...

I've tried a 'banked-version' and believe me... it's utterly dull!

There's a damn good reason why they stopped racing there you know ;-)

Hehe, I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to jump any conclusion.

We want to do a "Sarti" :)

Well, there's a reason they stopped to race at the Ring too :P

True,  but they didnt stop racing [F1's] at the 'Ring until '76....  they
stopped using the Banked Monza track in 1961..

Another fact worth noticing is that the combined banking and road-course was
only used 4 times [F1's again]...  The Ring on the other hand held *22*
GP's!

They are  dummies, they should make Charade or Le Mans, these tracks will be
better for GPL, or they should release a track editor !

I believe the reason was called "utterly dangerous", not "stupifyingly
boring".

Yup! The Grand Prix cars are not much fun on the banking... they are
"darty", they "bottom-out" and are more or less uncontrollable...  which,
imho, makes the track even more dull.

Just my 2 ?re - ofcourse.

Who's version did you try?  I didn't realise that anyone was so close to
completing the track!

Reason why they quit racing at monza (banked) was cause A driver was killed and
also killed 14 others. (if i recall) But the thing that makes me think was this
wreck happends entering the parabolica. So why would they stop racing at the
banked version but the wreck happend in the road section.

(i may be wrong in this reply)

You are correct Tony.

Taffy Von Trips was killed when he and Clark had a coming together there. He
was launched and went right through the crowd.

If we have the Monza banking opened it may help the NASCAR racers learn to
turn right !! <VBG>

A few small errors here tho...

1. Von Trips and Clark tangled on the way from "Ascari" toward Parabolica.

2. I beleive the real reason they stopped racing there was basicly because
the British drivers and teams deamed (sp?) too dangerous.  In 1960, most of
them actually protested against it, by not entering the Italian G.P.

History aside tho...  I still stand on my observation, the banked track is
dull...
That's why we, at the GPLEA, have never bothered doing it for GPL.
