Frankenheimer used the banking because the script called for a car to fly
off it and land on the track below.
The only European circuit capable of allowing this bit of exciting and
dramatic footage to occur was Monza.

He didn't use the banked section because he was a motor-racing fanatic who
harboured a dream to drive on that part of the track!

Huh? Frankenheimer used the banking to create a specaculair ending for
the movie (I love the way one of the describers explains how hard it
is to race on the banking). That jump of the banking sure is
spectaculair :)
What makes you think I want to sell tickets??

I entirley doubt that. He could of changed the script but still have him die
many many ways. Crash into the monza bridge. ect ect

Ah but Bruce...  If the Monza banking did NOT exist, would the script have
called for such a scene?  I think not.
If Monte Carlo was perched next to a sheep pasture, would the script have
called for a car to be wrecked into the bay?

Tony, I can understand what Martjin is saying.  If I have a choice between
spending 200 hours on something *I* like or 200 hours for someone else, it'll
be my likes every time.  Now if I was being paid, that's different.  Martjin
doesn't want to *demand* pay for his work(if I understood him correctly), so
we're back to the first statement.
