Tim & David, sometimes it's far easier to deny guilt than admit
wrong doing or error. I don't know who is wrong or who is right
but does it really matter at this point?
Having been in the situation before and reacted similarily I
can understand the frustration.
Nothing will be solved by continuing the battle.
Its easy in the heat of the race to lose your cool and do or say
things you don't mean. I don't think anyone in this league intentionally
tries to cause a wreck or create havoc.
If nothing else Rascar should teach you that acting with maturity and
grace may serve you better in your racing careers than how many wins
or wrecks you have. I realize that we all have ego's and are competitive
to a degree but unless I missed something this isn't a win at all costs
league.
Once the patch is out I am going to try and race again. Even though I
have lost much of my own skill and reflexes for reasons beyond my control.
I have decided I will race against my own limits rather than other
peoples.
If I cause problems as a result of my mistakes then I will continue to do
laps
by myself offline.
Over the years I have raced in some of the top leagues against some of
the
best drivers but thats not what I remember the most. Its the friendships and
relationships that have endured.
Maybe its the pot calling the kettle black but sometimes I am capable of
putting
things in there proper perspective. :-)

I'm enjoying it already.  Funnily enough, I'm finding it easier to drive
than I did with NR2002.  :)  And yes, I'm not using Arcade mode.

Well, I could go out and buy another modem and put it in my comp (the
current one plays up something cronic at the moment), but I'm that close
to getting a 'freeish' broadband connection I've been holding out.  As
soon as it seemed that was now on the cards I immediately picked up
NR2003 coz' I really can't wait to join in.  I just hope I can find the
time to actually race against you guys.  Saturdays can often be a busy
day for me, unfortunately.

How about you both act like ***s and look at this one-race suspension as
an opportunity to better your lives; read a book, go out and have a nice
dinner, spend some time in deep and meaningful discussion with your other
half.

But stop whimpering about what is the equivalent of being sent to your room
for a couple of hours!

Bruce.

David,
I would have to agree with Jan. Eldred is really great to host these
races and he is a saint for putting up with this stuff. I have seen this
stuff happen every year. Tempers get a going and so forth. At our local
track, the same thing plays out. Ya'll got some choices to make. I would
hope that you guys work it out privately and lets start looking forward to
Indy. That really is a great track. To all the other lurkers out there
reading the RASCAR soapbox, dont be scared off. In all my years of
consulting with groups, our RASCAR group is composed of exactly the same
personallities you will find in any group. So, dont think that you can avoid
these incidents. They are going to happen and its call a racing deal and you
get over it. But, we dont need threats and we dont need driving that leads
to someone wanting to make a threat. If I wanted to race with a group of
drivers with bounties on their head, then I will join one of the papyrus
pickup races and try to avoid the wreckers. By the way, I did hear the word
wrecker and it sent chills up my spine.
    My two cents.

<snip>

Eldred, what car are you driving.  I haven't heard anyone saying that
they are different, but I'm none too sure that isn't the case.  I've
only had this game a couple of days and had been mucking about with the
T. Player/Monte Carlo set and had driven around Pocono to compare my lap
times with some of the quotes here.

Anyway, tonight I decided to put my name into the game and changed to
driving the Dodge.  Before taking this car out at Pocono I had probably
put in 50 or 60 laps there using the Monte Carlo/fast setup with a PB of
54.7, within 3 laps of using the Dodge I was absolutely flying with the
fast setup.  It was like chalk and cheese.

Whereas, with the AI set to 95% I would just draft behind the other cars
onto the S/F straight until past the S/F line and then pull out just in
time to get my nose halfway alongside an AI car, with the Dodge I was
pulling out on the AI almost before I had finished the preceding corner
and would be alongside and past BEFORE the S/F line.  This car just
seems to have more grunt.  I only did half a dozen laps which was in
traffic which meant I didn't get a clear run, but still managed a 54.3
whilst being baulked by other drivers.  I dare say I could possibly gone
into the 53's.

As another example:

When exiting T1 behind an AI driver at 95%, unless I got a superb exit I
just had to sit behind him, all the way to T2.  With the Dodge I was
able to exit T1 behind the AI driver and just blow past him before even
reaching T2.  It just seems to have more speed.  I'm reaching the same
rev point ready to change up from 3rd to 4th earlier.

So do these cars drive differently and have different performance?  Sure
as hell seems like it.

Honestly, I don't even *remember* which car I'm using.  Whatever the default is
- I don't think I changed it...
<looks on RASCAR website...>
Can't tell from the picture.  Chevy, I think.

I wonder why I didn't see your*original* message response...?

Honestly, I wasn't sure what the chats during the race were about.  As you
said, that incident didn't cause a yellow - someone else did.  As I was busy
trying to figure out my OWN damn race strategy, I may have missed them.  Pardon
me for paying more attention to my own race...

Just like two kids fighting at school.  Doesn't matter WHO started it - at that
point, both are guilty.  Therefore, both get a suspension.

I can understand why you feel that way...

I agree with Jan.

David, I've seen the incident, you were both at fault. But you
instigated it, so you need to accept more of the blame.

In my considered view you deserve to be suspended for bad driving and
poor sportsmanship. If you'd kept your mouth shut you'd have got away
with it though, imo.

My advice to you would be to develop your race craft by practicing more.
Also, I'd council against publicly asking for some to be banned, as this
makes you look like a whining little bed wetter.

David is actually using the traction control algorithym from Cart
Precision Racing - an all time classic and favourite of my old buddy Dave!
( This is where David gets his Al***Rythem ). Unfortunately, as many of
you are finding out the hard way, like the rest of CPR, this algorithym is
still in alpha and delivers some extremely radical results. Give the man
with the Al***Rythem a very wide berth! :))

It's my honest opinion, mate, having bothered to look at the reply!
David DID instigate it, it WAS bad racecraft on his part. It was 52% his
fault, imo.

I've done a lot of on-line racing, and my record is good. In short, I
know my onions. :)
