It's my belief, and I think I speak for many, that GPaL is not coming. For
whatever reason, hoax, lack of time, some sort of secret upper level government
***, whatever, it isn't coming. Jack got a lot of people amped up, and
then pulled a houdini. I have said it before, there is nothing wrong with
getting in over your head, or setting goals you couldn't obtain, but Jack
should of at least had the decency to have said "Sorry all it's not coming, no
explanations". I'm sure Jack is around using another name, maybe one day he'll
come forward.

Heard in another post that partial versions have reached non-Jack
hands. Perhaps he could make the source code available and others can
pick up. Would be a shame to throw all that work away. There are more
programmers amongst us.

It was all a big con.......he collected a massive list of sim player's
e-mail addresses and then sold them to some marketing / games company for
loads of money....he then went somewhere very nice for a holiday hence his
lack of posts since........

ok, maybe he didn't but it's possible.......

First of all i have nothing but good things to say about jack. he is the
only person i ever raced that hit me and sent an email appologizing. i spoke
with him yesterday. he said he has a new job and has been very busy. He
wants to finish gpal and will do so when he has time.

having known Jack thru his online hosting, and his sense of fair play,
it is my suspicion he (like the rest of us) awaits the patch/patch.
THEN he can release his (most-likely) up-to -date GpAL...be patient.
have faith...and her sister too :)

And i bet he is soooooo busy he can't post a message to this newsgroup
explaining what's the current status on GPaL. Last time it was postponed was
an installer bug that prevented him from releasing the thing ( repeat after
me " installer bug" ???!!! ).
Jack owes (sp?) us nothing! Don't forget that he didn't take our money and
vanished ( or maybe he did as i have to pay for the internet and reading all
this posts about GPaL and viewing that nice JPGs he hat at his site did add
something to my bill ). But it would be nice if he showed up, cleared the
things up so the people like the original poster would stop waiting for
GPaL.
But, don't start waiting for that either, as it's never going to happen!

FINALLY some reassuring GPaL news. If only Jack would have made the
little effort to tell us this directly, then all this speculating
about the status of GPaL wouldn't even have happened...

Great to hear that GPaL is not dead!

Gee why didn't I think of that. Think I'll collect email addresses
from this newsgroup and retire. ;-)

Pete, you could say the same to me, with my recent survey :)

But it's not the case :)

Anyway, not sure what was Jack motivation, who knows what's the answer ?

I'm one of the fool who believe him (maybe it didn't intend to fool
anyone) and posted NEWS on my wesbite.

ohh well that's life

hehe.. You would at least have to get an anonymous email address
to avoid the 100MB mail-bombs..  <G>

Hm, in all honesty, and without putting Jack down.
I have experience with people saying that the only thing keeping the
release from happening is an 'installer bug', and then it turns out
there are a lot of problems.
The longer Jack is busy with his job (and that's ok, just don't keep
giving hope, although he's probably convincing himself too), the less
the interest in finishing GPal becomes. It's the same thing really, as
saying it's just 1 installer bug away. Making things look nicer than
they actually are.
I predict you, the project will never be released. Jack's moved on to
other things.

Just what any marketing / game company would want...

A list of e-mail address to a bunch of pissed off people :)

Who was the person who predicted back in March or April, that GPal would be out
in September...?  He still has the REST of the month...<g>
