And now you're saying it didn't? You mean I've been down in this fallout
shelter for 3 months with nothing but Pabst Blue Ribbon and Twinkies for
no reason? Somebody could have told me -- I thought all that was left of
civilization was UseNet....no, wait a minute....

Well, it could have been worse, you could have been down there with
"rick"....

Quite a combination there Bart, PBR and Twinkies...what made you go for
that one ?

Jan, as for me, I dont have -any- problem with what he says and
I defend his right to freedom of speech, here on the internet,
which is something he apparently doesn't enjoy in his own state/country.

What I object to is his incessant referral to 'we simmers want',
'we the sim community believe' .. etc. Frank doesn't speak for -anyone-
but Frank. If he continues his 'we-ness' posts, someone will be
there to counter him.

Thats happening now.

You welcome, I can appreciate that you might feel a little uncomfy in
that company, but at least I didn't put you in the "very few people in
here that are only morons that do not contribute in one way or another"
category :-)

You're most welcome, and I must admit that there were times when I just
couldn't resist no more and just *had* to reply to some of his posts,
his problem was that he wasn't very good at what he was doing, all you
had to do was read what was posted on these sites he posted links too,
and you'd soon see so many conflicting statements you'd think these
people were running for office somewhere :-), and when confronted by it,
he would then drop the subject altogether and find a new subject, very
tiresome chap to discuss with

Excuse me if I missed something (I write my own posts, but I may have
subconscious slips... one never knows), but have I said something about this
episode, other than I wasn't around when it happened? -Not exactly
speculation on my behalf, IMO.

You might want to try reading people's posts before telling them what
they're allowed to say or not. Which you cannot hope to alter anyway (most
people don't scare easily enough to fear your verbal wrath), you can only
prevent yourself from reading it.

Frank,

Do us a favor and tell Bartress that he's won . . . game, set, match, world.
I dunno if it'll work, but maybe it's worth a try.

Here's my version:

Bart, you've been correct in everything you've said in this ng.  You're a
living god. You rock my world, baby.

Nobody wins or loose in this newsgroup.  People simply exchange opinions,
give news and help people with problems.

I can understand how that bothers you (and other people), but I can't help
but feel it's more constructive to argue what follows the 'we the sim
community believe'-bit, not the phrase itself. You can always add "Speak for
yourself" at the beginning of your reply afaic.

I don't have a lot of time to read news, so I tend to look past form and
search for meaning, which is probably why those phrases never caught my eye
(only started noticing after you guys pointed it out).

BTW, and this is just an observation, if you're worried about ymenard
"speaking for the group", doesn't that imply his words, however ludecrous,
somehow carry some authoriy? ;-)

Anyhow, let's drop this line of discussion as I'm starting to sound like a
stuck record. There are more productive ways in which we (<---deliberate!
;-)) can contribute to the sim community. -Whattaya say?
