Has anyone else upgraded this software and had a problem with N20002.  After
the upgrade the sim won't start?  Had to reinstall N2002 and go back to the
older  version of ZA.  It has a new "pop up" feature that would be nice to
use, for web surfing etc.

Thanks

I suppose the REAL question about ZA is whether it will shutdown when you
tell it to. Or basically "do what you tell it to". This has been a very bad
problem for ZA in the past... It's a roll of the dice with it (literally).

I would highly recommend a similar (but far superior) product called Tiny
Personal Firewall. You can get the 100% free PRO version (no "pay me 20
bucks for the features I need" like ZA) over at http://tinysoftware.com . If
you game online.... dump ZA in a quick way, and grab yourself Tiny. You
won't regret it, and it should be very easy learning curve for you
(interface and terminology is similar to ZA... only it actually works).

Cheers,
Schumi

I sent ZA an email, if I don't get a positive result I"ll delete it an try
Tiny.  Sound like a nice program and like you stated it's free!

Thanks

Ditto here with Tiny Firewall. I have always (all online *** too) used
Tiny since dumping Zone Alarm after a hole was found in it on the 2.6
version (June 2001) and some hacker ex-nayed my KERNEL32.DLL during a 10 hr.
ftp download session. The only trouble I've had is setting the rules in
their pop up dialog box, which is more graphics driver related. Not being
able to alt-tab out of a game in full screen to check the box and allow
button, or a resulting screen freeze were the problems. This can be
eliminated by setting your rules manually in Administration advanced button.

Here is another firewall (New) that is related to Tiny that I'm going to be
checking out. (suppose to be more secure).

Paul, do you guys disable Zone Alarm when you have a race?  Just wondering
because I just joined a league, and haven't played multiplayer much.

thanks

tiny doesn't exist anymore, it's been bought over by kerio, they released
2.1.0 3 days ago, and it works perfectly for me.

I always leave ZA running when I race.  I have never had any trouble with ZA
interfering with my connection.

If your connection to your league's server isn't great, you could try
turning ZA off to see if it helps.  (but I doubt it)

I use ZoneAlarm and I have never had a single problem with it.  I even leave
it running when I sim race or online ***.

I'm also behind a NAT in my router as well.

What version of ZA do you run?  I have 2.6.357.  I've had issues with GPL, N4,
and N2002.  Lockups, etc.  It works with Diablo II with no problems.
It just occured to me that ZA might be screwing up the video...I have a V5,
what card do you have?

Eldred,

I'm using whatever the latest version of ZA is.  I usually update as soon as
it's released.    I'm using a Gainward GeForce 3 Ti"450" video card.

I can't even run ZA when playing OFFLINE.  It simply doesn't work with GPL on
my system. :(

Are you both talking about the free version of ZA, or are you talking
about ZA Pro? (the one you pay for). It may be that you have differenct
versions....

I'm only curious, as I gave up on an earlier version of ZA (free) and
switched to Tiny Personal Firewall (now Kerio).
