Question for you guys racing online using Zone Alarm.
Should I just disable the pop up warnings when my computer is being pinged
by unknown source? Right now it is set to give me the pop up warning and
also writing it to a text log file. How will this effect the quality of my
online racing ? Should I disable both the pop up warning and it writing to a
text file for those times I am racing online?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Yep disable it (it can crash games in full-screen mode) and let the log
write them out.  Also, the first time you start up a sim in full-screen, you
might on purpose crash it so you can go back to Windows and allow
connections/server for that exe.

  I can't say yet...since I just started trying...but I turned the popups
off I tried to qualify when I first put the ZA on and it yanked me off the
track.  Since then, I reformatted windows and can't get my wheel to
connect...dang thing.
good luck

Dave....

Send me the "specs" on what "wheel" you're running....and a "brief" on the
problems you are having.  I might be able to help you?

I'm hoping this is me...I don't see my reply above your message.
  Here's the poop.
LWFF the old all red model.  USB or serial..although I've only used
USB..(I'm not even sure the serial connector is still around here)  Win98SE
with all the critical updates.  The new windows installer from a link from
the Logitech site.  Amd Athlon 1.1ghz Tbird.  the older drivers don't work
with the faster cpu.  Logitech has a tech file that describes connectivity
problems.  I edited the registry to delete all autoloading programs but
still can't get the wheel to be recognized in the win98 control panel
applet.
Current driver for the wheel is the newest available 3.62 and I'm using
dx8a.

Dave.....

Sorry for the delay in replying....to this.  I was thinking you would email
me.....and didn't see an email so didn't think you still had the problems
with your wheel......sorry.

I know the DX 6.0 would be a source of this problem.....but there's a few
others to check out.

What mobo....what is the chipset on it?  If its a VIA chipset....have you
installed the latest VIA "4in1" drivers (version 4.29a final release...is
the best).  If not....your mobo may not be properly "sharing bus space" with
the USB ports.  Win98SE is very sensitive to this.....even Intel had to come
up with a "patch" of their USB port drivers to fix a similar problem.  I had
this problem too......not with my racing wheel (I use a TM NASCAR Pro
Digital-2 via USB ports.......electronic guts only).......but it was a
problem with a Logitech FF joy stick.....and that was a "Logitech" problem
all the way!  Their USB drivers need big time work!  Or, at least they did
for this FF joystick....you know?  I also found that the Logitech controller
just does not like sharing space on the computer with any other
controller.....it just doesn't work....stable manner...that is.  I generally
uninstall my TM wheel....before re-installing the LG FF joy.....when I want
to go "Star Wars".....or "WW Fighter Planes" flying!  You know...I have to
keep the old Star Wars stuff pretty handy....readily handy....since George
L. himself stops by the house from time to time....when he wants to "hide
out" and play hooky from the office (Lucas Arts is about 10 miles from my
house)........we've been good friends for a number of years.....so he
doesn't even bother to call me when he's coming by to "play!"  What a guy!
.....lol....

Send me an email.....if you get this fixed?

  I have a Microstar K7T Turbo.  Via133a chipset.  I had the 4.28 4n1
drivers installed.  After attempting to update to 4.29...I now get an error
in the dos portion of booting up, saying a file is missing.  This file is
Viagart.vxd.  I found one mention of the file in the registry.  The file
is in the tempfolder I unzipped the drivers to, but it seems to not be
properly installed.  Any clue where I should move it to?
I found a usb filter file...on the via homepage.  Absolutely no help.
The wierd thing is....I had ALL this working BEFORE I got hacked.

I also tried using the serial port and even this didn't work.  The wheel
was found by windows control panel but the pedals don't function
(yes even using the proper Wingman Formula force SERIAL option.

.  If not....your mobo may not be properly "sharing bus space" with
