For those interested in adding a software firewall to your
computer..check out ZoneLabs - Zone Alarm  is free and seems pretty
secure..more secure than having nothing..and if you race on the net,
you better have something to watch your system, I've noticed lots of
strange activity when connected to Won Servers...

Zone Alarm

I have been using BlackICE and much of the "strange activity" I
see originates at my current IP address. BlackICE will tell you
the IP address of the machine doing the UDP port probes (which
is most of what you see) and these IP's are generally my current
IP address. I have seen others from North Carolina ISP's and
others. But many of these may be legit. The scans to be worried
about are the TCP Port general scans and Trojan scans. I have
seen dozens of these in the last month since using BlackICE.

I have DSL and ZoneAlarm has got a lot of press in that arena lately.  It
blows away BlackIce etc.  Not only does it stop malicious attempts at
connecting to your computer, more importantly it also stops harmful OUTBOUND
traffic too.  So if you have some program hiding on your hard drive that
accesses that internet without your knowledge this program will stop it.
BlackIce won't.  I highly recommend it.  Especially if you have cable or
DSL.

If you're at all concerned about the security of your computer on the
Internet I encourage you to check out http://www.grc.com
Steve Gibson's site will, at your request, probe your computer for
weaknesses then show you how to fix them.  When I first tried this site I
was amazed at how open my computer was.  I loaded Zone Alarm, and next time
I visited the site my computer was invisible to the Internet.  Cool.

The only problem I have with it is........ when there's a break in attempt
while on WON, or just in N3 for that matter, the Zone Alarm message minimizes
N3.  Makes it a bit hard to keep off the wall when you can't see where your
going.

Is there a way around this?

In ZoneAlarm under Lock, uncheck the box that says:

Show the alert popup window.

Now you won't get to see what IP address is atacking you, but after a
while, who cares as long as ZoneAlarm is doing its job. They are said
to be working on an upgrade w/ a log file generator. This would be
nice to review at the end of a week. Just turned mine off after a
heated race at Spa online and the freeking thing popped up and wham .

(All spelling errors are intentional and are there to show new
and improved ways of spelling old words. Grammatical errors are
due to too many English classes/teachers)
