F1 2001 Force Feedback?

Geez!  I just bought a Thrustmaster Pro Force Feedback wheel (very nice wheel,
by the way) and I come to find out that F1 2001 doesn't even support it!!!!  I
did reload F1CS2K to try it out, but it just isn't the same. Good thing I kept
my receipt!

EA are supposed to be bringing out an FF patch sometime, but I haven't heard
anything recently.

This is unthinkable!  Releasing a Formula 1 racing game in 2001 without
force feedback support!  What were they thinking!?  This fact alone had kept
F1 2001 off my shopping list.  As soon as a patch is out implementing force
feedback, I'll give it a try.  But until then.... not a chance.

I dumped my FF wheel about 5 months ago...Loved the FF but the LWFF pedals
gave me grief.  Now using a TM Pro Digital two...without FF.

Does that include a fix for no cars in the rear mirrors and not having to
use windowed mode?

It seems like many of the top drivers aren't impressed with force feedback.
I'm merely an average racer, but I can see proof of a performance improvment
with force feedback.  Beyond that I just enjoy the added sensual dimension
"good" force feedback provides.  I share your sentiments on the LWFF pedals,
however, I've learned to live with them.  I know I could do a lot better.

I know a guy who had married a set of CH Pro pedals with his cable driven
LWFF wheel.  That seems to be the best solution I'd seen to date... at least
for someone who likes force feedback.

The comment I made was not to suggest that everyone uses force feedback,
rather I was just pointing out that EA Sports lost a significant number of
potential buyers for the "out of the box" product.

Most people - myself included - don't have either of these problems despite
what you may read here. However, yes I believe that the nvidia driver issue
will be resolved.

I think you'll find john that no ff is not such a big problem in F1 2001.
Add some centering spring and it feels good even without ff.

I don't have any mirrors either, and I have a V5.  What setting did I miss?  Do
I have to use windowed mode for that?  I don't have any other frame rate
issues(that I've noticed).

There is no problem on the 12.90 drivers, but any of the 21.xx drivers have
no cars showing in the rear view mirrors. This is on Win98 and WinXP. What
settings are you using for your drivers then? Maybe I set mine differently,
but to say most peple have no problem and yet I have it on both XP (clean
install)  and 98 doesn't make me want to believe you.

Well, you said it yourself, there is no problem for most people on the
12.90s.  Don't use the 21.xxs - simple as that!

Since you messed up the quoting, I hope people don't think that *I* said most
people don't have problems, or that the issue will be resolved.  I don't have
any mirrors in the program, but I have a Voodoo 5.  I'm running 98se, but I
couldn't tell you what drivers I was running.... :(

Eldred, the mirrors work just fine with the V5500, have a look through the
graphics options you might not have the mirrors turned on, its on the same
screen as where you choose the default driving view.

Good grief - the mirrors weren't turned on(by default?!).  Since the default
view was the***pit view, I never even went to that screen...  Thanks.  Now
all I have to figure out is how to get a higher top speed at Hockenheim than
183mph... :(
