ISI feedback - F1 2001 limiting freezes

by James Pickar » Sun, 14 Oct 2001 17:21:31

I've been having huge problems with running F1 2001 without it freezing
every 10 mins or so.

I tried something someone suggested earlier (apologies to who ever suggested
it) by changing the

WINDOWMODE=0    to WINDOWMODE=1

What this does is forces F12k1 to run in a Window at the resolution you set
it  (640x480 for me).  I then changed the desktop res to 640x480 and moved
the window to the middle of the screen  (basically making it full screen).
I was running 640x480x16bit in F1 2001 and as my desktop res too.

It ran smoothly for more than an hour!   Performance wasn't far off full
screen and more than acceptable.

But, it did eventually freeze again  (completely freezing everything and
necessitating a hard reboot).

Any more ideas?  I think I've proven somthing (what, I'm not sure ;)  but
I'm sure the ISI guys will be able to possibly work out why from this.

James

PS.  My machine is a PIII 866, 256ram, Matrox Millenium 450 video.

I'm suprised you have to limit your screen resolutin to 640x480.  I'm
thinking the Matrox is just not up to handling modern graphic sims.
Can't offer much else...
good luck
