F1-2001 Momo controller tweak?

How can I get my Momo to give me more cotrol of the steering? It's a bit
sloppy. I have the deadzone set to 0.
There seems to be a delay between my turning and the steering reacting to my
movement.

In which game? First of all go to
http://www.wingmanteam.com/latest_software/gadgets.htm
and download the DX Deadzone utility. Run it and make sure all
deadzones are set to 0.

After that set the deadzones in your game to 0.
Also, if the game supports it, set the wheel to full lineair. If the
steering becomes a bit too twitchy for you, move down the lineair bar
a little, but you want it as high as you can handle.

Hope it fixes your problem, if not let us know :)

Unfortunately I use W2K. Deadzone says to use with onlt Win98 and/or ME. I'm
playing F1/2001. According to the game setup all the deadzones are at zero.
I have the X sensitivity at 100% which I assume is full linear in this game.
I adjusted the Momo to run at 70% everything and it seems to help, but it's
still not as exact/sensitive as I get in GPL.

Dam-da-da-daaaaam:
"DXDeadZone allows you to change deadzone settings of a DirectInput
game controller.  This utility works with Windows? 98, Windows? 98se,
Windows? Me, and Windows? 2000."

Ah, F1 2001.. well, to keep a long story short, I've spend HOURS on
tweaking the controls of my Momo in F1 2001 without any good results.
Besides the FF not being as good as most people describe how it should
be, I also have a major deadzone in my pedals. The only way to get rid
of that is to select single axis.

I tried all the suggestions I got, it isn't because of the Momo,
people with different wheels report the same problems, so finally I
gave up.
Having much fun now with N2002 which took me 10 seconds to configure
:)

F1-2001 Momo controller tweak?

I'm afraid you know exactly what I mean. F1/2001 took me at least 5 attempts
to get it working with their 2 patches. Then it felt like I was trying to
drive a school bus without power steering. Now it feels a lot like my
personal car did before I got a few key front end components replaced. I
used to drive a 1975 AMC Pacer (fishbowl). The steering was a little better
than the rope we used to use on our sidewalk race cars. What a joke.
I guess F1/2000 was really meant for the "Need for Speed" crowd. Its a bad
sign when it takes numerous tries to install the software and then the
steeering feels like it's possessed.

I am more convinced than ever that i wastes my money. I'll go back to GPL
until a worthy sucessor of this genre is released. I have N4 but I'm just
not into oval racing. A good Cart 2002 would be something I would be
interested in.

Split Axis, single Axis...doesn't matter, so long as I can take that big
bad GT MOD Viper out for a spin, and another spin and another spin...who
cares how I try and control it...???

I'm gonna give the "non split axis" a try before I write this game off.

I would hope the CART sim would be based on the N2002 engine? GPL works
great and I understand N2002 is even better in terms of functionality. I
would be driving Nascar but I find the rules too complicated.

The rules aren't too tough once you have them explained...basically...:)
turn left...repeat as necessary.  :)
Here are some links to the two efforts converting F1 2001 to CART.

and the official site ...I believe this will not be a mod so much as
tweeking the core F1 2001 code to work with Cart.

No, I'm convinced F1 2001 is a very good sim, and I love the GT mod..
but with the controller problems and all those bugs it just isn't fun
to drive. I really hope F1 2002 won't have these controller problems
anymore :-/

I don't care how you control it, but I want to drive a sim with
split-axis..

N2002 has extremely helpfull lessons, explaining all the rules and
tactics of Nascar. Was very helpfull for me!

I remember at first Momo was behaving strange in F1 2001, until I started toying around
with the control settings. I turned the x wheels sensitivity (in the game options screen) to
85% and then turned the speed sensitivity (in game options again) down to low 15%. Now
it works like a charm... I'm not the fastest out there.. but its fun fun fun. And make sure to
turn on some centering spring effects in the Momo control panel.. some 25% should do
nicely. Also custom made plr files with good FFB settings are to be found on the Hugh
Gear Forum.

Works great for GT mod as well.. some people just cant get the hang of those big mean
machines.. but on my wheel they are a dread to drive.

Hope this ramblings helped .
