F1 2001 & Momo wheel activity at center

I'm curious, when my brand-spankin' new Momo is at center while on the
track, it seems to jitter around quite a bit.  And when I'm driving in a
straight line, the wheel wants to strongly pull left or right, depending on
which side of center I'm struggling to hold it at (in other words, it feels
like it wants to be anywhere else but dead center.)  This is making it quite
hard to drive needless to say.

I've read all posts on here containing the word 'momo' in the subject, and I
seem to have missed the post for ideal settings in the .plr file for the
Momo.

Could someone with some patience post as many of the ideal settings as you
can?  (e.g. wingman profiler settings, any config file settings, in-game F1
2001 settings, etc.)

Thank you kindly in advance.

Most likely you just need to set the force feedback strength (in F1
2001) to a negative number instead of positive.  Or if you already have
it set to negative, try positive instead.  ;o)

Go to EA and get the advanced options doc, here's the link:

http://common.ea-europe.com/f12k1/f12001advanced.zip

This has settings for Logitech.  The engine idle setting (I believe it's
called throttle vibe) causes too much vibration while idling in the default
set-up.  I have a Momo and it is decent using default FF settings (but
shakes too much while idling) but great using the recommended settings in
this document.

Thanks for the tip Joe. Also, setting deadzone in F1 2001 on 1% for
the x-as got mostly rid of the jittering with my momo.

Thanks Joe,
that made a big difference, the only thing I don't like about F1 2001
is the way the steering wheel 'loads up' and you try to turn against
it, only to find that you spin out if you are not careful. Irritating,
but I guess that may be what F1 driving is like.

You're welcome.

I haven't noticed the loading up thing.  I do spin often enough, I'm just
not surprised by it. ;0)

What's your FF setting in the profiler and the game?  I'm at 100% in the
profiler and -100% in the game (or actually minus 6500 or 7000 when I tweak
the settings).  Perhaps your profiler force is too high?  I also go with 0%
damper in the profiler.

You're welcome Andre.  I'll try setting my dead zone to 1%, I think I'm
currently at 0%.  BTW, do you use 0% dead zone in the profiler?  I'm at 0%
dead zone and 100% sensitivity in the wingman profiler.  I'm using this as a
base setting so I can do all tweaking in the F1 file.

I don't use the profiler.. I have 0% deadzone in windows (with
dxdeadzone) and use 1% on the x-as in F1 2001.
I read this tip on the High Gear forum and to my surprise it actually
worked, most of the spikes are gone now.

Can someone re-post the settings for the Momo?

Somewhere along the line, the settings have been dropped out from the RE's.

Thanks :)

Try turning speed sensitivity down to 10% and also X-axis to about 10-30%
depending on your wheel...
