Momo wheel centering fix

For those of you like me who still have a centering problem after installing
4.11C I was able to get a temporary fix for the problem from the guys at
Wingman team . This fix is not official or beta or anything from logitech so
don't expect any support from them.

I have posted the fix on the high gear forums
http://www.racesimcentral.net/~hg/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=20206...

The file is 7kb and it's easy use.

Hope it works for you too,

I saw the patch consisted of eight registry patches (you'll end up using
just one):

 L+1, L+2, L+3, L+4, L+5, L+6, L+7, L+8

Example (L+1):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WmHidLo\Parameters\VID
_046D&PID_C295]
"WheelFringe+"=dword:00000009

The idea is that that the fix adjusts the center position of the wheel.

But does this registry tweak pull the *wheel* more to the left, or does it
push the *center* more to the left (effectively pulling the wheel to the
right)?

Not sure what you mean but what it did for me and now others is actually
move the centering of the wheel over either left or right now depending on
your problem. Before when I would let go of the wheel it would sit just
about 7 degrees off to the right and when you moved it you could feel that
it was off to the right by the play in the wheel before the force feedback
would kick in. Now the wheel when left alone sits dead center and the play
is equal to both left and right.

I have uploaded the latest reg files to the forums that fix the pull left
and the pull right for those that had the either problem.

Ah, I see it now, you've uploaded a fix that addresses both possibilities.
I'm not sure if I'll have to use it, because the centering problem I had
(wheel pulled to the left) seemed to have almost gone after a complete
reinstall of the Wingman 4.11c software. However, the wheel still isn't dead
straight: I can't get a perfect horizontal line under the wheel in the game
controllers panel (it's either slightly left or slightly right). So I guess
I'll give the fix a try anyway.

Cheers,

Hope it works for you, let me know your results and I will pass them along
to the wingman guys for official fix.

Way back when this first became an issue, I asked them to put a slider in
the Global Wingman options to take care of this.  Not all computers are
alike.

Oddly, it didn't go very far :(

Well looks like they have seen the light. They still may not provide it in
the drivers but as a separate piece of software, I wasn't really told other
then they are working on a "t*** tool"

It shouldn't be too difficult. All they have to do is build the registry fix
in the software, so you can change it with the click of a button (or
slider).

That's what I had asked them to do.  I got the impression there were
'difficulties' with the idea :)

I've tried the fix, but I've returned to the default settings. Using any of
the registry fixes seemed to make the wheel more off center than the default
settings. But when I turned the wheel left to right (full), this off center
effect would disappear. I have to say I found it confusing, because it's a
visual tweak of something that ought to be very precise. It would be better
if you could manually set the center value to zero, just like in DXDeadzone
(which doesn't work in XP).

Sounds like you did not turn the wheel to full lock both ways after powering
on your pc. You need to do this to calibrate it properly. Same for the
pedals.
