Lighten up Martin... you don't die for real driving it in the game, after
all.

Hey  there, guy! Nothing wrong with the BRM at the 'ring. A challenge sure
but never a dull moment!  Not only that but the BRM is tough: just the thing
for bouncing off the scenery. Row that gearbox and keep the tail tucked
behind you and you can surprise the unwary.

If I can get within a minute of my current PB (8.27~) at the ring in that
old crock, then I shall relent...

I can generally lap in the 8:40 range with a BRM pb of 8:42. This compares
with an 8:34 in the Cooper (the only other car I've seriously used at the
'ring) so yes:crock though it may be it is not necessarily a slow crock :)
It is an entertaining car that can really build your finesse with the
throttle and give you a philosophical atitude regarding spinning. It can do
very nicely on some of the 'rings longer sweeping S curves as long as there
isn't a lot of elevation change mid curve. Just the thing for those
been-there-done-that-GPL-blues.

Greger Huttu's done 8:02.04, I'm down to 8:36. It's a very nice car
to drive, very forgiving.

Until it gets to 8,500 rpm, yeah. And I'm sure the ruggedness of the RS
shifter will be put to the test driving the BRm at the ring

Ah, no doubt you're referring to that saucy little flick of the tail that
happens when the H16 finally finds more than a dozen foot/pounds of torque?
Theres the trick to the BRM; spin the motor hard all the time and keep it
above 8,500. That 6 speed gearbox is there for more than just getting you
off the starting line. It eats fuel at an amazing rate (but sounds *sooo*
good)when you do this but you can scramble around the 'ring surprisingly
well plus the power makes the car " pointable" (neologism alert!). One nice
thing about driving the BRM exclusively for several months is that I now
find every other marque in GPL relaxed and easy to drive :)

David
P.S. nice change in the subject line

Well, I had a blast at a the ring, but I'm sorry to say I gave up by
Karrusell. The Engine sound is delicious, but the handling is truly abysmal,
and keeping the revs in the useful range is one of the hardest things to do.
Maybe, one day I'll have another go, but yesterday I simply didn't have the
patience to "learn" a new car
