Can someone thats gotten the patch elaborate on the frame
rate? Especially someone with a system close to a P200/32megs/3dfx.

If people are now getting acceptable framerates with their Monster3d
then I think I'll pick 'er up!

Take care,

I've been waiting for comments on the patch beta here, and I was
wondering why people were so quiet about it, now I know why!  It makes
sense though, why post about problems in a beta when they will most
likely be fixed anyway!  I'll wait and see what the final version of
the patch is like before I make my decision on buying CPR.

No, Microsoft has asked beta testers not to comment publicaly until
the patch is finished, that's why you haven't seen any additional
posts after that first one. Irritating for people who want the info, I
know, but not altogether unreasonable - for example I'm having some
kind of basic DirectX setup problem with the patch that is clearly
affecting my performance, so my fps numbers at this point would be
more misleading than anything.

John, I'm also a tester for CART and I would like to report to you guys
also but we've been asked not to, while I dont necessarily agree with
this policy, it isnt up to me to decide and I respect those who made the
decision. Just suffice it to say that when you are ready to buy, CART
will be worth the money :)!

Buy? Most "whiners" (incl. me) are only ready to TRY the PATCHED demo!
If that's good, I'll buy...

Still hoping

Hmmmm, Well I rec the Beta Patch and am looking at the letter right now and
I dont see where it says not to comment on the patch. It does say send your
questions and feedback to Microsoft but doesnt say I cant give feedback
anywhere else!   Oh well I guess I will have to go along with the
"Gentlemans agreement" and not say anymore about the patch....well except
for  I LIKE IT!!!

Don't you guys think that I have the right to know what's going on with
the patch or any other issues related to this sim since I already bought
it? It cost $50.00 of my money and the fact that there is a patch being
worked on proves that the game is not where TR wanted it to be by the
time of it's release. Personally, I don't think they needed to get
feedback from RAS on all of it's problems. I think they were well aware
of them.

No.

The fact that you know the patch is coming out is enough, and anything
beyond that would only serve to spark off yet more counter-productive
discussion and detract from the business of getting the patch done. If
you spoke out at the time of release (and were polite, of course!)
then your voice will have been heard and thoughts taken on board if
possible. What's to say beyond that?

Cheers!

patch or any other issues related to this sim since I already bought it?

First of all, whether you have the right to hear something about the patch is
an issue you should take up with MS, not those of us who are beta testers.  We
can only honor Microsoft's request that we not discuss the what's in the patch.

on proves that the game is not where TR wanted it to be by the time of it's
release. >>

Great.  That also means that 90% of the games you've ever bought fall into this
category as well, since almost every game out sees one or more patches after
release.  So congratulations, you've managed to condemn the entire ***
industry with something that isn't news by portraying it as if it is.

it's problems. I think they were well aware
of them.>>

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

At any rate, the patch is in beta form right now, and its possible things would
change.  Can you not see why Microsoft would not prefer testers to not comment
here about things that might be changed again before the final patch gets
released?  Especially in light of the nature of the posts they've gotten here?
Why start a 3 week flame war over something that will get changed anyway?!

We were asked to keep quiet via an email message from John at MS, maybe
he missed sending to to you so technically I guess you could post about
it but I wouldnt if I were you. Must say I agree with you about the
patch results though :)!

OK, I've read the posts about having to keep quit about the patch but
without going into a great deal of detail, can you use ONE word to describe the
framerate in camparison to the original release? Remember, in _comparison_ to the
old version or demo.

Just a thought ;)

I guess it would be good to know a time frame for the patch, vis-a-vis
the time frame in which one could get one's money back for the original
purchase of the unfinished game.

All this "I know something you don't know" is making me ill.
