Yesterday, I posted that the CPR patch upped my frame rates from 14 to 22.
Well after playing, I decided I wasn't happy with that, as 22fps is noticeable
to the *** eye and doesn' t allow you to run that "perfect lap".

Well, tonight, I started the game, turned OFF my steering wheel graphic and
"draw hills", and guess what?  I'm absolutely FLYING.  Over 35fps now.  The
average human eye can only see between 35-45fps, so suddenly I'm very happy
with the game.  With a full field on a race start (I started at the rear of
the field), my fps never dropped below 25fps.

Please, if you're having frame rate trouble still after patching, try turning
off these two things I've listed.  I certainly don't have a screamer system
(P200), but I have a good video card (Velocity 128 PCI) and am hoping this
will help other people!

No go for me. I have a P166, 32MB ram, and Pure 3D(6mb 3DFX card) and I
must turn off***pit, roadside objects, draw hills, sky&clouds, etc. just
to get above 20fps. If I have a full field of cars, it will not go above
20. I have the most recent Pure 3D drivers, full screen, clipping set to
minimum of 15, poll interrupts unchecked, etc. I have tried the game on a
different P166 with 32mb and Monster 3D and get similar results. Both with
the patch installed. Its stange that there seems to be such a major
difference in frame rate results performance with the patch. Some
people(like me) experience no increase, while others have reported dramatic
improvements. If I could get within 5fps of what you are getting I would be
happy.

Don,

In my case, I have seen the "average" picked up all around. Not the  maximum what others are seeing. Though it's an improvement in the right direction. I rather have a game the averages higher then peaks..

GOt it??: )
