With CART PR, you can:

* race 2 person multiplayer on modem
* race 2 PC's cabled together with a null modem cable.
* Race up to 8 person multiplayer on LAN.
* Race 4 person multiplayer via the zone (limit of 4 set to help keep
latency from being an issue)
* Race over the internet w/o using the zone at all with up to 8 players. To
do this, the host simply shares his TCP/IP address with the other players &
you enter that address when you join the game.

Thanks. That is what I wanted to hear.
Sorry about the Ranting but...
I have my moments. who does not?

Are you still supporting D3D? Don't let your publisher drag you down. M$
You will be judged on this game for years, more so if it sucks.
Until you support a better API, I cannot buy this game or recommend it to
anyone.
It just is not good enough, close, but still to far, It needs more work.
ICR2 remains the best.

No, the ICR2 tracks are often just wrong, e.g. chicanes at Surfers
Paradise.
I am still hoping that you can drive through the chicanes in CART, not
just plow through them! Same with the cork***at Laguna Seca, in
CART it's much more authentic than in ICR2.

Now, CART probably has accurate tracks, add 30 fps -> it'd be perfect!

Dou you REALLY care whether the accuracy of the track, both in plan view
and elevation, is not 100%???!!

What ***y difference does it make to the overall gameplay?  You're
never going to race on the real track anyway, so it's not as if you need
100% accuracy for practising purposes!

ICR2 may be now slightly outdated in the effects that it doesn't have
that other sims do but IMO the overall package is still the most
enjoyable open-wheel sim available.  The graphics are far superior to
CART PR and the Rendition version piddles all over it for screen-refresh
speed.

Nodding heads, chain link fences and clouds of tyre smoke are all very
pretty but do stuff-all for gameplay.

Uh.  Yeah.  You have a problem with that?

going to race on the real track anyway, so it's not as if you need 100%
 accuracy for practising purposes!>

I didn't "race" on the real track, but I did do a lot of laps on it at Skip
Barber racing school, and yeah I want the two to be identical. So sue me.
Most people DO care about track accuracy.  Why even bother modelling real
tracks if you aren't going to do it right.  Tracks are like golf courses--they
are designed with a certain challenge in mind.  If they are not accurately
reproduced then the strategy won't either.  Track camber often is neglected in
sims, and its nice to see that at Laguna Seca this is modelled accurately.

Laughable to say the least.  I've been to Laguna Seca and the hills are not
flat brown polygons-  sorry to disappoint you.  Oh, and guess what?  REAL CART
tracks have curbs that are usable, and then there is the light sourcing, etc.
The graphics in ICR2 are showing their age.  I love the game .. its a classic
and a favorite, but its by no means state of the art and CPR DOES look, sound
and drive better in many respects.

Agreed...but then its not that hard to accelerate a 3 year old game which was
designed to run well UNaccelerated on a P133, isn't it?

Well, nobody expects steady 30 fps with everything on in CART!
But, maybe 25 fps? Or at least more than 20 fps?
