Hey Guys,
I`ve noticed a few posts in this thread talking about how the aids
being used in todays F1 cars have a negative effect on F1. It`s
obvious that some people are of the opnion that true driver
skill becomes harder to notice as more aids are introduced,
some even think that just about anyone could drive a F1 car
these days.
While I don`t have a strong opnion on the subject, I just thought I`d
post what Schumacher had to say about it (in case anyone missed it).
Technology has evolved over the last decade in Formula One, but
championship leader Michael Schumacher insists that technology
has not shifted the balance from the driver.
He explained why not when he said: "I see it like this: You are able to
be more constantly at the limit [of the car] with it [better electronics]
and you don't have to take care of any power peaks of the engine.
It gives us more freedom to drive a bit faster. And the ability to
handle the car permanently on the limit is what makes a good driver".
Jaguar Racing's CEO of their Premier Performance Division
Niki Lauda said recently that with the introduction of electronic driver
aids even a monkey could drive a F1 car. Michael Schumacher
refuted this when he said: "I mean, now, with all the electronics you
can use, there are people who say monkeys could drive these cars.
But believe me: they could not, at least not as fast"
