True. But my money's on JPM winning the driver's title in 2003. Not
RS.

MS: I would do something very simple: Reduce the aerodynamical grip,
increase the mechanical one. That would in my eyes increase the possibility
to overtake, and that is something we all would like to see.

YES!!
I agree 100%!

Whoa! Whats next? Oil sprinklers around the track? Rotating knives in
the hubs? Rocket launchers on the sidepods?

Maybe I should try to get a cable package that includes F1 after all...

Do you actually think *any* of todays F1 drivers (apart from Jacques that
is) would say any thing else ??   --   Does Bernie Ecclestone ring a bell??

If you want an honest oppinion on F1 - go ask someone who *used* to do it.

In development teams usually use second driver just for testing
new ideas. We'll see in the future who is better.

Get it quick.  Availability for next year is in question, at least here in
the states.

David, you are the one that jumped the gun and pounced on the guy.

He specifically stated in the original post "that I have ever personally
watched were"

It stated right up front for you to see.. so if in your words " Uh, what's
the point of listing the best drivers you've seen", why did you even comment
then?  Were you just trolling?

Sorry, but this is USENET. :-)

RS also has the benefit of driving a Williams several years in a row, along with
all of the tracks - that JPM has managed to outqualify him despite these
advantages show that he's damn fast.

They're both so quick it's academic at this point to say which one is faster.
_Next year_ (as another poster pointed out) we'll have a better feel as to whom
is quicker.

Race results aren't a fair comparison as JPM has had horrible luck with
equipment and other drivers - he only took himself out at Monaco and Canada.

JPM could easily have two wins, two seconds, and a fourth at this point.

<snip>

Spot on Jan.  Last week I just happened to catch the first part of a
racing series called 'Racing Arrows' here on tv - next part on Carlton
at 12pm tonight if anyone's interested - and, I think it was the team
director, was asked a very similar question.  Surprisingly he reckoned
it was something like 90% car and 10% driver these days.

Obviously some may say it's only Arrows so what does he know <g>, but
developers will more than likely err on the side of 'it's more the car',
whilst drivers will be inclined to lean towards 'it's more the driver'.
Why on earth would Shuey want to believe that he has very little to do
with getting the car to go fast?  Why would he want to sell himself
short?

Good point. We should never assume car in a team are equal.
