Momo wheel and Nascar 2003

Having trouble getting wheel to operate correctly.
It's very hard to keep the car going straight as it seems to somewhat have a
mind of its own.
Running Windows XP.
Anyone have any good settings or can steer me in the right direction it
would be greatly appreciated.
Have the Momo force (the red one) and am using 4.30 drivers for the wheel.

Thanks much
MILO

Just for the heck of it, try setting the steering assist to 10-12% and see
if that helps.

When I first got mine, it had some horrendous "corrections"
whenever I'd turn the steering wheel (I turn left, the wheel
would fiercely try to yank itself back to the right).  I more or
less solved it by cranking in-game damping to 18%.

Part of your problem could be that you may need to recalibrate the
wheel each time. Once in the O/S, and again within the sim.  Some guys
also find that when they get into the car, they turn the wheel full
left and then full right a couple of times.

Apparently, and I am not sure why, this can help.

Well, GPL refuses to recognize it the first time I load GPL each
session, so I have to reload it again to get it to let me calibrate
the wheel.

In NR2003, I have the occasional yet maddening problem of the
wheel suddenly "miscalibrating" (usually when I yank it all the way
over to one side when going through a hairpin).  I'll remember
your tip tho, thanks.

I think it's part of the MOMO hardware, it has a self-centering
function.  So, as soon the***pit appears, I turn the wheel full
left and full right.  I do this in practice and at the start of any
race.
I think the centering is more pronounced on ISI sims than
Papyrus, but I do it for either.
