Nascar 2003 and MS Sidewinder FF Wheel

First, please I will be the first to admit, I am not a ***
person, and I am sure I'm just doing something foolish. I
recently purchased Nascar 2003 and the MS Force Feedback wheel,
and installed them on Win XP. When I try out the wheel controls
in the test screen under Windows, everything seems to work fine,
it shows the pedals, buttons, etc. When I run Nascar 2003, and
go into test race mode and try to accelerate, I don't go
anywhere, the car stays in place. I am sure it's something I am
doing that's stupid, but I don't know what (pushing all of the
buttons doesn't seem to get me to go anyway, either). I've gone
into the controller configuration and it seems to be seeing both
pedals as the same axis but I assume that is correct. I also
have a gamepad installed, so it's not clear how to tell the
program to use one over the other. And it does not appear that
the wheel software has a profile for Nascar.

Is there some sort of "here is how to get your FF wheel working
properly in Nascar 2003" document? :-).

First of all, set your wheel/pedal combo up to use split axes in the windows controller calibration
screen, you'll want that for N2003.  Then go into the controllers options screen in N2003 and go to
calibrate, there shold be a little arrow near the bottom of the calbirate window, pointing to the
right or left, click that and you will see more axes to calibrate your wheel/pedals with.  Then
assign the controls you want to use.  Chances are you havent calibrated all your controls correctly
in N2003 so you don't have the option to use them in game.
