MGPRS2- sound to quiet

by Lutrel » Sat, 06 Mar 1999 04:00:00

When I play MGPRS2 the sound is so quiet I have to turn up the speakers all the way. It worked OK before so I thought maybe its the
new patch v105 for MGPRS2. It seems to turn down the WAV volume in W98.
Any ideas?

Thanks, I will try that but I think the volumes are all set high already.
BTW- best not to send attachments on the news group,  It takes too long to read the posts.S end them to the authors e-mail.

>Hi,

>In the  RS2 subdirectory "editors" there's a program called "customsnd.exe".
>Use this program to change the volume of the engine and gearchanging sounds.
>Therefor you have to open the file "bnk_0.bnm" which is in the directory
>rs2\datab\resson. You can also replace the sounds with new, better sounds.
>I've attached the sounds which I think are the best. Enjoy!

MGPRS2- sound to quiet

I've also thought the sounds were anemic.  I've run the sound editor, but
the copy I have is in French!  I took French in high school, so I can
understand most of the menus.  But I don't see any sound files in
bnk_0.bnm with the same names as your wav files.

Can you give me a step-by-step description on how to incorporate your
files?  Either that, or tell me the filenames of the sounds I need to
crank up the volume on?  I don't read enough French to understand the
descriptions.

Thanx,

Mighty

If you've installed the last patch (v1.05), then the sound editor will now
have English text.

The sounds that are normally replaced in any of the downloads are:

Sound        Filename         Description (from sound editor)
==============================================
lower gear  debray12.wav  "box noise when going into lower gear" - downshift
Accel         V10eq1.wav     "acceleration noise=engine noise [looping]"
Flame        flam16a.wav     "Sparkles" - upshift

Thanks, I tried changing the volume settings on these and I still have to press the Windows key to set my Wav sound volume back up
after the game starts and then turn my speakers up nearly all the way. I also have in the MGPRS2 sound setting, the engine sound all
the way up and the other sounds nearly all the way down to hear the engine loud enough. Its sound OK after I do this ,but its a real
pain and when I go back to Windows it blasting loud.
