MGPRS2 sound too quiet

I believe I've read posts about having problems with the sound in MGPRS2
being too quiet, especially the engine sound.   Please tell me there is a
way to fix this.  I have loaded patch 1.06.  I have a SBLive sound card.  I
tried bumping up the .WAV volume in the sound control panel, but when I exit
MGPRS2, the .WAV volume has been lowered again.  I'd appreciate some help.

There IS a fix... I don't remember where it was, but at least you know
there's one out there.

When you arrive at the first menu in the game, hit alt+enter to return to
the desktop, then increase the wav volume in the sound control panel.
Maximize the game again and go racin'!
