MGPRS2 sound problems

I received my copy from UBI last week and have just got around to
racing it. I am having a sound problem where the rear/3d sound drops
out. Well it sorta drops in on occasion. I really would like to have
this fixed and I have played around with the ini file for the sound
but there was no change. Anyone else hear/not hear this problem?
Any suggestions?

YUP!!! I'm having the same problem. It get's worse if you try and edit the
sounds with the sound editor. Tried using a SBLive Value and a SB AWE64.
With the SB AWE64 I get terrible POPs and CLICKs from engine sound. I get
the sound "drop out" with the SBLive. Something is really wrong with the
sound in this sim!

Same thing here too.  And I don't think it can't be my system, because
it happens at EXACTLY the same points on every lap. For example, at
Imola the sound will cut out for a couple of seconds every lap on the
run down to Rivazza.  And at Monaco it happens just past *** and
down towards Loews.

Tim, what soundcard do you use? I've had nothing but trouble with my SB PCI 64.
With the original drivers I would lose all sounds after 2 laps, with the latest
drivers I lose all sounds except the engine in the car I'm driving.

This happens only with F1RS and the MGP Demo, I won't spend the money for the
full sim until I know it will work with this card.

I have an SBPCI64 which is really an AudioPCI also. The sound (3D
positional)
in F1RS is just great. So since we have the same card (be sure you have the
1370
Ensoniq chip on your board) it cannot be the SBPCI64. Did you get the latest
Windows98 drivers from the Ensoniq/Creative site(s)? This driver totally
kicks
ass. Also I will confirm for certain that the sound in F1RS is ***with the
origional drivers. The 3d sound patch is not possible until you get newer
drivers. However I think you can just get the latest drivers and be done
with it.
I believe these drivers were released ~1 month ago and advertized as new
W98 drivers.

I have the PCI128, and I do have the newest drives released about a
week ago from Creative. This is the only game that has rear channel
sound problems. Unreal is awesome and have no problems, MGPRS2 does I
hope I can get this fixed. The regular sound is bad but at least I can
hear it thru the front sound and I can drive, but that isn't what I
paid for......

I have exactly the same problem with my SB PCI 128.  For example, as you
leave the pits in Brazil, alongside the wall, you get a drop-out.  I have no
engine sounds from the other cars (or they are so quiet as to be inaudible
while playing).

This, along with the other 1,001 bugs, will presumably be addressed in some
future patch should Ubi ever get around to releasing one.

Marc.

I hope that it is not long in coming, or it is fixed by the time the
title is released in the US...

Hi Greg,

I don't know what the problem is. I do have the latest Win98 drivers, before
loading those I had no rear sound capability at all. I'm wondering if the
problem might be with one or more of the 3rd party sounds or maybe the no menu
sound patch.

BTW, I just picked up a set of the Cambridge Soundworks 4 Position speakers and
sub-woofer. So far I'm very impressed  with the big sound from such a tiny
footprint.
