MGPRS2: Creative Labs Sound Blaster problems?

by Bret » Sat, 08 Jul 2000 04:00:00

The demo of MGPRS2 had a sound problem with my computer, where the sound
would stop after about two laps...I thought it was just a glitch.  I just
got the retail version, and the music works fine, and I can hear the sounds
in the config menu of the game, but when I get to the track, there are no
engine noises.  The only thing I can here is "you were black flagged" which
obviously happens when I'm black flagged. :)  I downloaded a sound add on,
but it came with a unistaller.  It seemed to work when it installed and
uninstalled, however I didn't try the sound before the addon.  Can anyone
help?  I've got a Creative Labs Sound blaster Adudio PCI 64V or something
like that...Thanks!

One suggestion I've seen, but haven't tried yet - start the game, then ALT-TAB
back to the desktop.  Turn up the volume in Windows, then ALT-TAB back to the
program.  Apparently MGPRS2 lowers the volume by half, I think.

Actually, after hitting ALT-TAB to get to the desktop, you need to bring up the
Creative mixer panel, and turn up the volume for Wave/DirectSound/MPS in the
mixer.  For some reason, when MGPRS2 starts up it reduces this mixer level to only
50%.

Well, that's what I thought I said.  I guess I didn't explain it very well.
Like I said, I hadn't tried it myself yet.  Sorry.

I'm sorry, I thought you were referring to the little volume icon in the bottom
right of the Task Bar.

Both ways work.
One more thing: Do it while in the main menu, since Alt-Tab and back messes up
the graphics when already in race - at least on my machine.
