Creative Labe Graphics Blaster 3D (HELP!)

by Tracy De » Sun, 13 Jul 1997 04:00:00

I just purchased the Creative Labs Graphics Blaster 3D with a 4mb chip.  I
have installed it and everything is working properly.  The graphics
look fine however my frame rate is aweful in Nascar2.  I had better
performance with my old 1mb trident chip. I have tried running the game in dos
and in windows 95.  There is not much difference.   Is this video card a piece
of ***or can I make it work?  I am going to return it shortly unless someone
can tell me if this card is useable.

Yep, the Graphics Blaster is a crappy card.  The one you problaby were
looking for (assuming you have PCI system) is the Creative 3D Blaster PCI.

This card is garbage. I tested it out for 30 days and brought it back. The
Windows95 performance wasn't too bad, but I play most of my games in DOS
mode and this card creeps like a snail in DOS game. Don't let the $99 price
fool you, you're getting what you're paying for. If you play any games at
all on your PC, stay away from this card.

I *almost* got sucked into buying the Creative "Blaster 3D" a couple of
weeks ago until I went back and read a bunch of r.a.s posts regarding
this card (thanks guys!). I think it is a crock that a company would
market two different cards with such similar names: the "Blaster 3D"
(junk) and the "3D Blaster" (Vrit chip). It seems like an obvious
attempt to deceive.

I just returned the crappy Graphics Blaster 3D and went ahead and purchased
Sierra's Screamin' 3D.  Wow!.  What a difference!  The extra $100 just might
have been worth it.

You must of had a bad experience with it.  The game runs great with ALL
graphics on even at Martinsville.  I'd recommend it in a heart beat.

Same here (3D Blaster) - and also runs great with many D3D games - and
these should get better with DirectX 5.0 which will properly support the
Rendition's DMA mode.
