Help - Muted Sound Problem with MGPRS2

by Gollu » Sun, 11 Jun 2000 04:00:00

I am having a problem with the sound being muted in MGPRS2.  I am using
a SBLive! along with latest LiveWare/drivers.  Checked all my volume
settings in mixer, etc., nothing wrong there.  Have applied patch for
MGPRS2 as well.  Still barely have any sound.

Any help would be much appreciated ...

I have the same soundcard and the same drivers and patches. And I have
the same problem. What I discovered is that MGPRS2 somehow turns the
volume on .WAV's down to 50% whenever it starts. (see the little
speaker in your system tray).

No idea why or how to stop it. But in the meantime, a workaround is to
let MGPRS2 start, then ALT+TAB to the desktop, and crank the .WAV file
volume up again using the Volume applet. Then ALT+TAB back to MGPRS2.

Convoluted but it works.

When you arrive at the first menu in the game, press alt+enter to return to
your desktop. On your toolbar is a little speaker icon, double-click on it
and open the Play Center Control Panel. You'll notice that your Wave volume
is set at 1/2, it's some problem with the game and the SB Live. Raise the
volume, maximize the game and go racing.
