HELP PLEASE: MGPRS2 keyboard problem in menus

by Whoeve » Tue, 09 Nov 1999 04:00:00

I have a problem with both F1RS and MGPRS2. Whenever I start a race (or
training, or Grand Prix) and I get into one of those black transparent
menus (After pressing F1, or at the beginning of a training session) the
keyboard locks up. After pressing a few keys my computer will "click"
with every key pressed (also with mouse moves). The game hasn't crashed,
it will simply not respond to the keyboard or mouse anymore. I've found
a few messages on several newsgroups from people with the same problem,
but never an answer.

Can anyone please help me? UbiSoft does not respond to my tech support
queries... (last time I spend my $$$ on a product from them I can tell
you)

This is my setup, maybe there's a similarity in setup with others that
experience the same problem:

Software:
=========
- Win98SE (tried Win95 but with same result)
- DirectX 7.0
- DirectCD 2.5
- MGPRS2 (tried both patched and unpatched version)
- F1RS (tried both patched and unpatched version)

Hardware:
=========

- Abit BH6 Mobo
- 128 MB SDRam
- 12.1 Gb Quantum
- Logitech Cordless Wheelmouse (v8.62 drivers)
- Silitek Airboard SK-7100 (IR keyboard, v3.20 drivers)
- Gravis GriP Gamepad Pro
- Logitech Formula Force
- Microsoft Sidewinder FF
- Creative Dxr2
- Creative RW2024E
- Voodoo3/3000 (not overclocked, latest drivers)
- MiroMedia PCTV (latest drivers and software)
- Compaq Netelligent network card!
- SBLive! soundcard

HELP PLEASE: MGPRS2 keyboard problem in menus

by Whoeve » Tue, 09 Nov 1999 04:00:00

Update on this problem: reinstalled Win98, did *not* install DX 7.0.
Problem now only appears after a minutes in the game... (in other words
keyboard and mouse works fine the first few minutes, can use them in the
menus but after that same problem occurs)

Anyone? Please?

Is there any other task in the background, which waits for a keyboard input?
Check your task-list and throw out anything unneeded.
