MGPRS2 Help PLEASE

I just bought Monaco-GP Racing-2 and I'm running it on a PIII650e with a
Voodoo3-3500. My problem is the game stutters / skips frames about every 2-3
seconds at any resolution. Anyone know how to fix this? I thought this sim
won several awards as it says on the box. Have I been ripped off?

Please help me if you can.

Thanks,

Sal V.

Shut down all your background goodies like virus scanners, etc?
Screensavers off too?

I have a Voodoo 3 3000 and it does the same. I think it is bad support for
vood cards. I have installed the game on my friends PC with a G400 card, and
no stutter.

I have yet to find a fix.

I presume you have got the patch for this game, it deals with many graphical
problems and will
probaly sort things out for you. I have a V3 2000 and this patch sorted a
lot out for me.

Found the patch reduced the ffb when I tried it, so I left it off. Prepared
to live with the stutter (you get used to it) in exchange for the awsome
kick when changing gear.  Saying that though, didn't really notice if it
sorted the stutter out. Maybe I'll try again.

Thanks though.

  What kind of soundcard do you have? I think there is a major problem with
PCI soundcards. I have an MX300 Diamond soundcard, and ever since I
installed it I haven't been able to play RS2. I can find no other support
regarding soundcard problems like this but I really miss the game.

Yup. Seen it here. Disable the 3-d audio acceleration on your souncard
(or edit the Ubi.ini file). The 3-d audio on these games is screwed.

Sound card is a SBLive MP3+, I have the latest version of the game (US
release 1.06), only Explorer & Systray are running, latest drivers for all
hardware including DX7.0a and no problems with any other games/sims. I have

1024x768. Also tried with and w/out Vsync but no change.

I'm stumped and I can't race like this.

<snip>

I get the same thing with my PC, and yes, I've got a PCI card. It is really
annoying as no other game is quite the same - that gearchange kick really ought
to be incorporated into GPL!

Sal,

Sorry, wrong file. Edit  the snd_cpa.ini file, located in the \CPA\DLL
directory. My fault. Here's my settings- I had to manually diddle the
sound card thing, since I didn't want to disable the hardware
acceleration for a3D. FYI, I am using an Aureal card (the newest,
whatever the thing's called...) I think the important one is the WAVX2
setting...experiment and let me know what you find.

Interestingly, A3D actually worked with F1RS (I don't know if it
worked w/the sequel) but that patch quietly vanished about a month
later. Anyway, good luck.

[Options]
Sound_ON_OFF=ON
WAV_ON_OFF=ON
CD_ON_OFF=OFF
SXD_DIST_SATUR=8
SXD_DIST_FADE=64

[DLL_Test]
File0=WAV

[DLL_Sxd]
Unconditionnal=None
File0=WAV

Default=WAVX2

[DLL_Cd]
Unconditionnal=None
Default=CD_WM

[Directx3D Options]
GUID for Win95=Primary Sound Driver
Speakers Configuration=Surround
Nb Voices=7

[Directx2D Options]
GUID for 1=Primary Sound Driver
Nb Voices=8

Do you have Microsoft Find Fast in your start-up menu....thats what caused
my hard disk to go bonkers and therefore stutter the display badly (while in
the middle of a full-length LAN GP!).

Just a thought, hope this hasnt been said before....i'm only new to the
group today

Good pointer. Along those lines,

http://www.the-unofficial.com

has lots of useful pointers on getting your system tweaked up for
play. You'll need Internet Explorer, Netscape won't work on that site.
