okay.. Let me make this clear.. First of all, I work for EA
Secondly, I never tested this game, I tested F1 2001 PS2

F1 2001 for the PC, is sad to say, (well, deservingly said) a VERY poor
quality game.. to say the AI was bad, is an understatement..
to say the game is bad overall, is an understatement

all I can do is say, the game was rushed, the programmers didn't do too
well with it and the amount of bugs, my honest opinion, is that the game
should never have passed Beta stage let alone final!

it was a game which I heard nothing but complaints from the tester's,
poor quality, sound was okay but if they were on anything less than a
1.4ghz processor it really was naff...

now I do feel sorry for those people who bought this game, because when
I was testing the PS2 version, we had the F1 tester's begging us to play
it, and beleive me, I wish they actually PORTED the PS2 version across,
because it's what the PC Version should have looked like, oh well.. read
the reviews of the PS2 version, okay they are slightly inaccurate, but
still very very true, we had fun testing the PS2 version

I won't get started on the problems with the PC Version, as there was a
lot of problems as far as I know, and the main one was graphics, which
caused so many problems it wasn't funny...

I won't slate EA, as they do make a lot of Good quality games, but this
one game was REALLY bad, I've never seen anything as bad as this for
years, it made me think of F1GP by Microprose... but at least that had
realism :)

All in all, don't blame the testers, they did their best, they had the
damn thing long enough, in fact don't blame anyone, as we all know,
Computer Games making is an expensive thing to do, licensing,
programming, production of CD's and boxes and such, marketing... it's a
pity they didn't take their time over F1 2001 PC, as it could have been
the best F1 game ever made...

well that's me out the way, apologies to everyone who bought this game
and forked out that much money!

                                <fluffypony>

P.S. I cannot do anything about the bugs, even report them, but there
will be patches on the way (so I am told!)

Thanx for that honest reply.

To make you feel good : I didn't buy the game. I could borrow it from a
friend who actually bought it the first day it stood on the shelves.
He thought it was a waste of money. It's not... well ... not completely...

Don't be too *** yourself : the game has good points, even VERY good
points... but : it's no GP3.
Even GP3 is no GP3. Gp3 is only GP 2.5. <G>

Maybe we race-simmers are too small a field. I think GPL was the best that
has happened and the best that will happen in a long time ...

I hope WSC will be released before 2010...

And I'm going to open the debate again..
Most of us agree F1 2001 has too much bugs and shortcomings, but
despite of that this is the best F1 sim I have ever played.
While waiting for F1 2002 I'll be happy to spend my time on this one.

I'm having a blast playing this "piece of shit" It runs great on my machine
at 1152X864. I also own the PS2 version, but I haven't touched it since the
PC one came out.

Besides the fact that I question your veracity when you say that you work
for EA, you certainly have some deep-seated beef with EA.  All your
criticism are extremely negative and more importantly fail to give any
specifics.  You say F1 2001 is a "VERY poor quality game", and then move on.
You say the AI is bad, but give no particulars.  The game is of "poor
quality", a general term made even more vague by a lack of specifics.

Somehow I feel that you have been short shrifted and because of that you are
firing back with these rather empty criticisms.

What, were you short-changed on your last check?

Exactly, "fluffypony" is full of it. F1 2000 was a piece of junk compared
to 2001. F1 2001 isn't GP3 in terms of features but it is certainly entertaining....
I will enjoy myself with 2001 until GP4 comes out....

Hey F1 2001 is running great on my P3 500, so I don't know what that idiot
"fluffypony"  is talking about:

1152x864x32 bit Medium Track settings, no mirrors..., medium smoke, medium FXs...
runs smooth as a silk.

P3 500Mhz, 256MB Ram
Elsa Gladiac Ultra (21.83 Detonator, no speed problems at all)
Windows 2000 Pro (SP2)
Directx8a
SBLive (Liveware 3.0 for Win2k, no problems at all)

This sim is definitely a lot of fun, hopefully with the patch coming things will get even better...

Just in case you didn't get my point.

Fluffpony's comments were being criticized as being from someone who has
something against EA.

Example:
"Somehow I feel that you have been short shrifted and because of that you
are
firing back with these rather empty criticisms.

What, were you short-changed on your last check?"

I reminded these people that he only criticized the PC version, but he liked
the PS2 version a lot. Both made by EA.
