I just wanted to clarify that, FWIW, that I do know this guy and yes he does
work for EA. In fact, by sending him out quotes from RAS over ICQ about the
bug-reports that were appearing, I probably made him post what he did.

He's a buddy of mine and has been for a good many years, and to be fair what
he gets up to other than in sim-racing really is none of anyones business.
You probably all know someone who unknowingly to you, is into something that
you wouldn't expect, or don't agree with or whatever.

But I have to say, and I hope my buddy agrees, he could have put a little
more thought and insight into the post. For instance, why title the post as
you did and then go on about how everyone is entitled to an opinion?, and if
you never touched the PC version either in testing or after release, it's
bound to get this group going....!

Uh, that was the most imersive moment for you? A rocket being launched
in the distance? :) Longbow 2 was great.. flight sims can be damn
immersive.. had fantastic moments with Gunship 2000 (back then is was
GOOD :) and Red Baron 2.. best moments are when you have a long
mission behind you, fly back home with a totally damaged plane which
you can barely keep in the air and just can make your way home..

I don't like too much realism in flight sims, sims like Falcon 4 went
way over my head.. sjees the manual was bigger than the Lord of the
Ring trilogy. But I tried the demo of IL2 Sturmovichikchovski, and
that seems to be both realistic and damn good fun to play at the same
time.. Nr.1 on my must-buy list.

I think it does.. I think it shows must of us mostly care for a good
driving model and not so much for fancy bells and whistles.

Just what I thought !

Mind you, I'm no expert but it seems to have the same flat, two
dimensional feel to it despite all it's 3D stuff and god knows what.

Having pre-occupied myself with GPL for the best part of three
years, I thought I would try something a bit more modern. The
comments in this ng prompted me to try F1 2001.

It was a mistake. The game experience imo is very little different to
F1GP.

It's akin to sticking 20p in a seaside arcade machine and wishing you
hadn't bothered. The only difference is it cost 30 quid for the same
junk experience.

Perhaps this is what F1 is like ? When I occasionally bother to watch
it on TV it holds little interest for me.

Perhaps if I was a Kwik-Fit fitter I might appreciate it more.

Probably best to steer clear then, ol' timer.
