GeForce 4 & NR2002 screen problem

by Bob » Mon, 18 Mar 2002 10:40:13

Just installed a Gainward GeForce 4 4600.  After a few laps, I get some
horizontal lines (hard to describe, but here's a screenshot link)
http://www.racesimcentral.net/%20Screen.jpg and then shortly
thereafter I get a screen freeze.  Happens in both D3D and OpenGL

I am using the 27.42 drivers.  Have tried 27.50, 27.52 & 27.70, and they all
cause a screen lock up prior to the menu screen.

Other sims such as GPL, Rally Trophy and F1-2001, are working fine.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Specs:
CPU:           AMD 1800 XP
RAM:          256 mb DDR
Video:         Gainward GeF4 4600 (27.42 drivers)
Sound:         TB Santa Cruz
Monitor:      Hitachi Elite 751
Hard drive: 30 gig Maxtor

TIA,
Bob Geddes

Bob, I don't have an answer for you, but I've been having problems also.  My
problem is when I exit the game, the screen goes completely garbled, and I
have to reboot.  I've noticed that it only happens when I use OpenGL.
I'm using VisionTek GF4 4600 with 27.42 drivers. I wish I had an answer for
you, because we're in the same boat so I know the feeling.
Good luck

Thanks.  At least I know I'm not alone :-)

Can you get drivers other than the 27.42's to work?  I get a total screen
lockup right after the Papy splash screen.  Have to completely reboot.

I am having the same probs with my new system i just got.

Specs:Alienware

CPU:2000xp
Ram:512dde
video:gf4 4600ti
sound:sblive
PS:340 watt

I don't know if could be PS or not gf4 is a power hungry card with a
min of 300w.

But under any extreme graphics condition i.e.(3dmark)or werewolf demo
(nvidia) and comanche 4 windows xp locks up, reboots, and then tells
me the geforce 4 has been the reason for the crash. I am pretty pissed
off since the system is 1 week old and i dropped a lot of money on it.
Please tell me if any one out there has a res for the prob.

P.S. i tried the updated nvidia drivers and the nforce (mobo) drivers
for my sys

Many Thanks To all

Dave

Try turning down the video hardware acceleration a couple notches, and make sure you go to the Creative site and download the latest sound drivers, too.
