GPL & Geforce - CL AP DDR problems

by AKA PRC_Deit » Thu, 18 May 2000 04:00:00

I have a Creative Labs Geforce AP DDR video card, running on the very latest
Nvidia drivers, using the OpenGL patch for GPL.  I've tried tweaking the
core.ini Opengl settings, turning all extra graphics off but I'm still
getting a weird problem in that:

If I try to run any resolution higher than 640x480 once it goes to the
practice or race screen it squeezes the GPL screen up into a smaller 2/3
screen into the upper left hand corner and then the rest of the screen
outside the smaller box flashes all over the place.

Any Ideas?

Don't use the 5.xx nvidia drivers - stick to 3.xx.

Thanks for the Response Rick

Do you mean 3x nividia or 3x Creative drivers?

Do you have a CLAP DDR Geforce Card you are using with GPL ?

I think that using the 3x drivers would suck either way as the nividia 5x
drivers fix some problems and gain more FPS over the 3x drivers but I can
try it as a test.

NVIDIA 5.xx drivers are internal beta drivers that were leaked.
The difference in performance between them and the NVIDIA reference 3.68
drivers is negligible.
The 3.68 drivers are the most stable ones out there.
Your problem is a known issue with the 5.xx drivers.
The Creative drivers are the same basic drivers as the NVIDIA, just with
some additional window dressing.
I use the NVIDIA ones as they are a little faster.

Bruce,

I have a Guillemot GeForce SDR board, and use the nVidia drivers
exclusively - the reference drivers are usually released quite a while
before each board manufacturer does their custom versions, which are just
based off the ref, in any case.

While the 5.x drivers may be preferrable for other games, 3.x are the latest
that are official and work with GPL.  Somebody did mention putting some of
the older files directly in the GPL folder, while running the 5.x drivers -
haven't tried this myself, but it may be worth investigating.
