I would say not - why pay 50 for something that shakes itself to
bits? (Sorry - couldn't resist.)

I think the answer you'll get from the ng is yes go for FF - on the
basis that "more is better".

I'm just jealous because I cannot justify it until my
TM sprint falls to pieces - and it is proving to be annoyingly reliable.

The other option (for me)  is to attempt to quietly introduce a FF wheel

without rest of family noticing the selfish disregard for family
finances.

I have a MSFF and on GPL, it is unbelieveable how much FF adds to this game!
As you turn hard, you can feel the car get loose on your wheel and you can
react backwards to correct like you would in a real race car at this
speed.....You can now get msff for 109.00 (www.proadvantage.com or other
places now). SO if you have it why now add another wheel and switch
back/forth if you like both wheels

Is that a wheel or joystick you already have? or are you thinking of buying
one?

I use FF in my MSFF wheel, without FF it was....well terrible...MSFF is just
pure carbage without FF enabled....

I'm not sure, I run an MSFF and it took me ages to get back to my previous
times I set using a TM F1. I have now beat those times but can't help
feeling that I could go faster with a non FF wheel. The reason IMO is the
amount of time it takes to turn the wheel to correct from a slide.
I'm going to try a non FF wheel in the not so distant future, if I get
faster I'll let you know ;)

I think I`ll get this wheel for GPL. My only question:
Do I need to have a midi port at my soundcard to get it to work cause
I have only a old SB16 with IMHO no midi port.

Thanks!

Why don`t you switch off FF for GPL -  is this possible?
Maybe it`s without FF like the MS Precision Racing Wheel?

The MSFF wheel without the FF on is absolutely terrible for GPL, I don't
know about the non FF MS wheel but it is probably better than the FF without
forces, although as far as I know it doesn't use the optical sensors.

Only if you drive badly...I find that a stupid move gets punished more by a
FFB wheel...a non-FFB wheel can just be yanked back to it's correct/best
position in a flash.  The FFB wheel will provide too much resistance to do
that in GPL.  But when you are driving reasonably well, there is no
comparison...the FFB makes the game that much more immersive and "real".

GPL FF or not

For me, GPL is essentially impossible without force feedback.
I tried it for weeks when I bought the game, and despite knowing
that slower is faster and that smoother is a lot more likely to
stay on the track, I never could manage it at all.  I probably
had some control setup problems too, but I really did expect
that I'd be able to stay on the track with GPL after probably
10,000 laps in other sims.  I didn't even care (yet) about being
fast.  In two weeks I probably managed to stay on the track
at the Glen about ten laps, and I basically put the game away.

Then I bought a Logitech FF, for other games.  Holy smokes,
what a difference!  Now I can even correct a spin (well, some
of them) by feeling the wheel and feeding opposite lock,
something I've been able to do only rarely with ANY sim.  I
now spend nearly all of my sim racing time with GPL.

Jeez, what's up with you? As I recall, you've gotten hundreds of lines of
good and useful advice over the past two or three weeks on how to simply
keep the car on the track.

What qualifies YOU for taking ***y shots at people?

Kurt
